Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's: Duel Transer Review

If you're a Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan, you're far better served by Konami's 5D's: Duel Transer for the Wii than the recent Decade Duels on Xbox Live Arcade. Not only does it offer an incredibly full slate of cards – over 4,500 – but it also includes a narrative to back up the tournament play and it gives you a chance to get your sea legs before turning up the heat. These pluses aren't enough to completely offset Duel Transer's shortcomings, but it's still a good step forward for the card game on consoles. In Duel Transer, you are a newcomer entering a tournament held by Surtr. If you manage to defeat dozens of competitors and Transer robots, and reach the top of the mystical Yggdrasil tower, you are rewarded with power and riches untold. Naturally, with that kind of award in the balance, all of the major players from the 5D universe want in. You will rub elbows (and throw down cards) with the likes of Yusei Fudo, Jack Atlas, the twins Leo and Luna, Tenzen, Tank, and even the teddy boy MC. All of the conversations are strictly text-based, which is disappointing, although some of the duelists have little animations when you attack them in a battle.
