Weekend Warrior 03/30/12

By GameInformer, published 31-03-2012

Phil Kollar received an important interstellar message and now he has to return to his people. He’s leaving an empty space here at the office, because he’s taking all his stuffed animals. Tim Turi: I’m clearing my entire gaming slate to save the galaxy once and for all. Not knowing what happens in Mass Effect 3’s controversial ending is driving me crazy, and I can’t wait to catch up. Phil Kollar: Packing up my junk and moving it out of the office! Goodbye, GI, I’ll miss you! Jeff Marchiafava: I finally managed to beat Mass Effect 3 last weekend, so I no longer have to worry about finishing up in order to avoid spoilers. I now have the time to head back to Skyrim, but considering the epic scale of both games, I might go with a bite-sized game instead. M...

Weekend Warrior 02/10/12

By GameInformer, published 02-11-2012

It’s Valentine’s Day weekend; maybe we should be spending a few days trying to woo our significant others back into our good graces. Instead, we’ll be broadening the gap by playing a lot of video games. We’ll buy them a big Christmas gift at the end of the year, so we’re sure everything will even out in the end. Jeff Marchiafava: The past few weekends I have vowed and failed to beat Saints Row: The Third. This week I picked up Skate 3 as a complete impulse buy, further ensuring I will fail again. When I’m not mutilating my skater in Skate 3’s Hall of Meat challenges (by far the best addition to any skateboarding game), I’ll probably spend some time playing Pinball FX 2 – Jeff Cork sent me a message saying he beat my Thor score, so now...

Weekend Warrior 02/03/12

By GameInformer, published 02-04-2012

It’s time to begin another weekend. Let’s look up at the stars and wonder about our place in the universe. Okay, enough of that. Now, it’s time to get serious about playing games. Jeff Cork: I don’t even know what I’m going to play this weekend. I need to get around to playing some Forza, but the God of War collection sounds pretty great right about now, too. Who am I fooling? I’ll just end up trying to beat a bunch of scores on Pinball FX. Ugh. Dan Ryckert: I'm about to go pick up my dad, who just arrived in town for the weekend from Kansas City. I'm immediately taking him to Game Informer to record several new videos of him playing (and hating) games, and then we're going to be drunk until Monday. I can't wait. Tim Turi: I finally beat...

Weekend Warrior 01/27/12

By GameInformer, published 28-01-2012

It’s winter. It’s cold. We’re playing games. Who cares what’s happening outside. Ben Hanson: This weekend I will continue my retro-RPG kick by playing even more Pokemon SoulSilver. I’m 25 hours in and loving every second of it. I will also continue playing Skies of Arcadia. I watched a friend play through the Dreamcast version back in the day and have been meaning to play the Gamecube port ever since. It holds up pretty well. I may also continue playing Final Fantasy XIII-2…maybe. Enjoy your weekend!Mat Bertz: Slaying walleye on Lake of the Woods while drinking whiskey and playing Slayer Pinball on my iPad.Jason Oestreicher: I'm finally in my new apartment, but still don't have all of my furniture from back home. I've got the essentials tho...

Just Dance 2 Dominates 2010 Wii Sales, Pokémon Owns DS Charts

By GameInformer, published 02-09-2011

Ubisoft moved over five million units of its smash hit dancing game in 2010, according to NPD. Epic Mickey and Michael Jackson The Experience crested a million sales each on the year as well. Perhaps third parties aren't as hosed as they once were on Nintendo's console? The data Gamasutra has released in an exclusive partnership breaks "new releases" out of the overall Wii data, a step unnecessary for HD consoles that have more than a handful of good games released each year. While Epic Mickey selling well is welcome news, it saddens us to see that so many people were suckered into buying the terrible Call of Duty: Black Ops port. Not as much as it makes us cringe to see a top 10 list with games we barely recognize (Wipeout) and non-games (uDraw Studio), though, as that pai...
