Last year's Madden on PlayStation 2 was home to some questionable changes to the long-standing formula. This time around EA Sports is sticking to the basics that made Madden so popular to begin with, while still offering some small additions and improvements to what could be the final version of the series to appear on Sony's aging console. There have been a few notable changes to the core gameplay that, while they don't significantly change the experience, do deliver a slightly altered way to work your way through a game of Madden. The first is the customizable right analog stick. Here you can assign up to eight moves to every direction on the stick for both offense and defense. You can set moves for when you're playing as the quarterback, when you have the ball or when you're the receiver. The right stick customization isn't an earth shattering revelation for football, but it works fine for as simple as it is. Fight for the Fumble is one of the few mechanics that was in other versions of Madden NFL 10 and actually made the transition to PS2. Sadly it doesn't work as fluidly as on Xbox 360 or PS3. Rather than jumping into a pile and scratching and clawing for the ball at the bottom you'll watch as your team clumsily kicks it along and tries to pick it up.

Unfortunately, the mode has not appeared in the current-gen versions of the series – until now. Madden NFL 25 re-introduces the ow...

We'll be updating this throughout the year as more and more dates get confirmed. See any that we missed? Sound off in the comments below. January Anarchy Reigns – January 8DmC: Devi...

There are few things more painful as a football fan than rooting for a team from somewhere else in the country. For those beleaguered by uncooperative local programming schedules, NFL Sunday Ticket has been a godsend, but it's not the most affordable package. EA and DirectTV are looking to make things a bit easier on your wallet this year. The Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition comes packed wi...

Wii U owners won't be playing games from EA's upcoming portfolio anytime soon, as a spokesman has revealed the company currently isn't working on any projects for Nintendo's console. "We have no games in development for the Wii U currently," EA's Jeff Brown told Kotaku. The news comes after recent announcements that both Battlefield 4 and Madden 25 will be skip...

Last year's introduction of Madden NFL's Infinity engine brought some much-needed improvements to the field. This year, the defensive side of the ball is getting a tune up to take advantage of the tech. The new hit stick provides defensive players with more power, and added chance to cause a fumble if the ballcarrier is executing a special move. Players will also have access to something ...
