Xerox says its Phaser 6280 series is capable of delivering ‘beautiful colour and quiet reliability for your busy workteam’. Does the printer backup Xerox’s claims? In testing our Phaser 6280N test sample proved a super-quick printing-beast. Xerox claims it’s capable of delivering speeds of 31ppm when printing black and 26ppm when dealing with colour documents but in reality, the printer returned print speeds of 35ppm and 29ppm respectively (we used our standard 20-page Word test document). This is a brilliant performance and going forward, the printer continued to impress. Printing our more complex 6-page text and graphics PDF document in monochrome, the printer performed admirably and returned a speed of 16.3ppm. Switching to colour this number dropped slightly to 13.3ppm. Over the course of our testing period the printer also proved very well behaved; it didn’t create too much of a racket when working and never emitted any unusual odors. This means you can easily place it in close proximity to staff without worrying about distracting them. Beyond its exceptional print performance the Phaser 6280N is flexible in terms of features and upgradeability.
