Monitor Reviews: 22''-30'' LCD Displays

Here's the ViewSonic VA2448-LED, a Full HD 24-inch screen with LED backlighting. Although its spec is nothing to get excited about, its price should open a few doors. Glossy at the front and matte at the back, the VA2448-LED is very much in keeping with current design trends. This unfortunately doesn't mean that it's any good. It comes with no accessories and its connectivity includes just a VGA and a DVI. The audio is completely nonexistent. The default colours on the VA2448-LED aren't accurate. The slightly dominant blue is particularly noticeable. You therefore need to go into the menu to rectify matters. This isn't complicated: after setting the colours to 'user colours', you set the Green and Blue parameters at 93 and 86 respectively. The deltaE - difference between ideal colours and those displayed on-screen - then drops from 3.6 to 2.5, which is a very decent score. This means you can also use the screen for photo retouching, or more simply to do your shopping without worrying about getting the colours on the articles you order wrong. The contrast on the VA2448-LED is also pretty good. We measured the contrast ratio at 940:1, which is above average when it comes to monitors (around 850:1).
