Thermaltake eSPORTS Challenger Pro Gaming Keyboard Review

Choosing the right gaming keyboard can be hard sometimes with the vast amount of gaming peripheral companies and manufacturers out there. Today we have a relatively new keyboard from Tt eSPORTS. The Challenger Pro Gaming Keyboard has been designed with hardcore gaming in mind by the gaming obsessed division of Thermaltake. Boasting an on board profile switch, macro keys, smart cable management, a cooling fan device for extreme gamers and more, let’s see if the Challenger Pro Gaming Keyboard from Tt eSPORTS is really as good as it sounds. The Challanger Pro is completely black in colour, apart from one front section in front of the Tt logo which is red, and features glossy black panels on both the left and right sides of the keyboard. When connected to your PC, the keys are backlit and provides a “gaming red” glow when using in the dark. The left and right sides of the keyboard features 5 macro keys each, which can be customized using the included software. Also seen on both sides of the keyboard is a socket for powering the included hand cooling fan, this is a very interesting feature which I don’t think I’ve seen on a gaming keyboard before. Located on the right are also the media control buttons, a back light control button and also a profile switcher.

Thermaltake tt esports challenger pro gaming keyboard

The most important tool in a PC gamer's arsenal (aside from the mouse, of course) is the keyboard. Keyboards have come a long way over the past few years and users now have the option to keep it simple or go all out with extra buttons, customizable macros, and flashy backlighting. If a feature-rich gaming keyboard appeals to you, Thermaltake has a new offering you'll want to check out. The Challenger Pro gaming keyboard (part of Thermaltake's Tt eSports line) brings a host of extra functions to the table including 10 macro keys, two USB 2.0 ports, a detachable USB cord and an adjustable hand cooling fan. It also sports red backlighting and some other nifty hardware and software customization options. Will it all add up to a better gaming experience? I'm about to find out. Thermaltake is a well known brand for gaming & DIY in Case, Cooler, and PSU for years. Due to the constant requests for keyboards and mice from gamers and end users, Thermaltake decided to create a series of gaming keyboards, mice, and headsets with the Tt eSPORTS brand. By using Tt eSPORTS, we want to extend our product lines into the gaming industry, and provide more \"personalized gaming” gears to gamers and enthusiasts worldwide.

Thermaltake Tt eSPORTS Challenger Pro Gaming Keyboard Review

The Thermaltake Tt eSPORTS line of gaming products is new to the market. It includes a variety of products including mice, keyboards, headsets and mousepads. Today we have the opportunity to review our first Tt eSPORTS product, the Challenger Pro Keyboard. This keyboard features an adjustable red back light illumination, two onboard USB 2.0 ports, as well as a personal cooling fan. Read on further to see what else this keyboard has in store. Special thanks to Thermaltake for providing us with the Tt eSPORTS Challenger Pro Gaming Keyboard to review. The Challenger Pro comes packaged in a high quality retail package. A textured metal surface resides as the package background to help make the white text and red borders stand out. The front of the box shows angled view of the keyboard along with some of the key features and of course the product and brand names/logos. The back of the package is pretty plain and online includes the features in multiple different languages. Moving back to the front of package, you’ll find a flip open lid which reveals more detailed information about the product and the software included for the Challenger Pro.

Tt eSPORTS Challenger Pro Gaming Keyboard

Compared to some of its competitors, Thermaltake is a rather young company. It was founded in Taipei County in 1999, and since then, it has become the go-to component company for many PC builders, enthusiasts and gamers. I've had friends of mine who weren't too well-versed in PCs request Thermaltake parts, so there's something that the company has done very right. After the company's founding, it produced computer chassis, power supplies and cooling products, but it has recently been on the path of major expansion. A couple of years ago, the company launched its LUXA2 brand, which features higher-end components and mobile accessories. In continuing this expansion, the company announced earlier this year its foray into professional gaming accessories, and the fruits of that are finally beginning to come to market. It's important to note that these gaming products aren't part of a series put out by Thermaltake, but rather are categorized under a different branding, "Tt eSPORTS". At its heart, Tt eSPORTS is still part of Thermaltake, but the company clearly expects enough success to warrant unique branding.

Thermaltake eSPORTS Challenger review

The dedicated gaming arm of Thermaltake, Tt eSPORTS, was showing off its new range of keyboards at this year’s Computex show in Taipei. I had a quick go on one there, and now I have my very own, whirring away on my desktop. Whirring away? Yes, the key gimmick setting this apart from the host of other gaming keyboards out there is the addition of a moveable little fan blowing air over your poor, sweaty gamer’s sausage-fingers. You can mount it on either side of the board, and you can also completely remove it and stow it away inside the plastic surrounds. On a particularly long gaming sesh it will help to cool off your digits, reducing any of that potentially lethal finger slippage. What I don’t approve of, though, is the whining sound associated with the tiny fan, operating at a frequency that’s almost, but not quite, beyond the realms of human hearing. Elsewhere it’s very much a standard gaming keyboard, with all the recordable macro functionality we’ve come to expect from such peripherals. The keys are solid with a reassuring action to them, and have a fairly long travel so you really have to press them, eliminating a lot of mis-strikes.
