Razer Naga Hex League of Legends Collector's Edition
Razer has taken the wraps off of its newest batch of licensed gaming products, this time with gear for League of Legends (LOL). The Razer Naga Hex League of Legends Collector's Edition takes the already top-rated Naga Hex gaming mouse, and tweaks the design for LOL fans, even managing to improve upon the original without revamping the design. The new licensed collector's mouse is designed for a specific subset of MMO gaming, Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) games - like League of Legends. MOBA gaming is fast and furious, lending itself to mouse designs that put fast accurate controls at your fingertips - or under your thumb, in this instance. In most respects, the collector's edition mouse is identical to its namesake, the Razer Naga Hex. It has the same dimensions of 1.8 by 2.8 by 4.6 inches (HWD), the same right-handed design, and the same six numeric thumb buttons in a hexagonal formation - as opposed to the usual multi-button mouse, like the Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse. But it improves slightly upon the previous model, switching the glossy plastic shell for a much more comfortable matte finish.
Razer Naga Hex Review
After the five-star Epic Razer is back with the Hex, another Naga-series mouse. "Hex" no doubt refers to the hexagonal arrangement of six thumb buttons on the left-hand side of this mouse, which is primarily aimed at fans of hack and slash games like Diablo III and Torchlight II. As you can imaging, there are plenty of avid gamers in our offices, with specialities ranging from FPS to sports games to strategy-based epics. However, if there's one thing we've all got in common, it's the fact that we've clearly grown out of fluorescent green lighting effects. So while the Taipan (for left- and right-handed users) kept its look relatively subtle, Razer has really gone to town with the Naga Hex. Still, the design of a mouse is above all a matter of personal taste, so our opinions on the mouse's aesthetics aren't taken into account in its final score here. We just hope you like green. We may not be able to give the Hex a score for its looks, but we can assess its design in terms of comfort and practicality. The main thing to note here is that the glossy-looking finish on the top of the mouse can make your hand get pretty sweaty after a long gaming session. The edges of the mouse, however, are finished in matte black plastic. Otherwise, the Hex is a nice mouse to handle.
Razer Naga Hex
The Razer Naga Hex ($79.99 direct) mouse has all of the things that we love about Razer's gaming products - solid construction, high quality sensors, smooth performance, adjustable and customizable profiles, and a look that screams cool. They can't all be winners, though, and unlike other Razer mice we've reviewed, the Naga Hex makes a few frustrating design mistakes, sacrificing comfort for a flashy look. Weighing a mere 4.8 ounces and measuring 1.8 by 2.8 by 4.6 inches (HWD), the Razer Naga Hex borrows liberally from the design of other members of the Naga line, with the same sculpted shape and glowing accents on the scroll wheel, side buttons, and the Razer logo. Razer has dropped the matte finish used on the Razer Naga Molten ($79.99 list, 3.5 stars) and the special edition Star Wars: The Old Republic Gaming Mouse ($139.99 list, 4 stars) and replaced it with a glossy plastic shell. Admittedly, the shell is pretty cool looking, with a shimmering metallic 3D finish rippling through it. Unfortunately, the finish also gets slick under your palm when used for any extended period of time. In addition to the usual right- and left-click functions, the Naga Hex has a clickable scroll wheel, and two buttons for forward and back movement through web pages.
