XBox 360 scratched disc

Barely played XBox 360 game disc scratched horribly by XBox 360. Microsoft told me it was my fault for moving my 360 (I didn't) and that they couldn't help me. More details at: jdrgaming.com Toothpaste method for repairing scratches ================================= See followup video: www.youtube.com Here are my notes from the comments: I use regular Crest. Put a small amount on your fingertip and rub from the center of the disc outward over the scratch. Repeat many times. Eventually you will see the scratch fade. Where it was you will see lots of light scratches where your finger was. Rinsing the toothpaste off between each rubbing helps. If you have lots of scratches or they extend all the way around this can take a while; work on the ones that show up from several different angles as they are typically the deepest. I've heard elsewhere that Brasso works. I may try it if the need ever again arises. I should caution you, however, against polishing the disc in circles. Any axial scratches have the potential to cause read errors, and polishing in a circular motion will cause some fine axial scratches to be created. Everything I've read on the subject says to use radial polishing motions only (from the center outward). I work on fingertip-width sections (about a centimetre long arc), rubbing fairly vigourously from the inside to the outside only. Each application and subsequent rubbing takes about 30 seconds, then I rinse and repeat. I usually have to do that 5 to 10 times ...

Air Disasters - Concorde

During the plane's take-off run from Charles de Gaulle Airport, a piece of titanium debris on the runway ruptured a tyre, which subsequently burst. The piece was about three centimetres wide and nearly 50 centimetres long. A large chunk of tyre (4.5 kg) struck the underside of the aircraft's wing structure at over 300 km/h rupturing fuel tank number 5 above the landing gear. Leaking fuel was ignited by an electric arc in the landing gear bay or through contact with severed electrical cables. At the point of ignition, engines 1 and 2 both surged and lost all power, but slowly recovered over the next few seconds. A large plume of flame developed; the crew then shut down engine 2 in response to a fire warning. Having passed V1 speed, the crew continued the take-off but they could not gain enough airspeed on the three remaining engines, because the undercarriage could not be retracted. The aircraft was unable to climb or accelerate, and it maintained a speed of 200 knots (370 km/h) at an altitude of 200 feet (60 m). The fire caused damage to the port wing. Engine 1 surged again but this time failed to recover. Due to the asymmetric thrust, the starboard wing lifted, banking the aircraft to over 100 degrees. The crew reduced the power on engines 3 and 4 to attempt to level the aircraft but with falling airspeed they lost control, crashing into the Hôtelissimo Les Relais Bleus Hotel near the airport.
