Logitech G35 Surround Sound Headset

Surround sound is a tricky thing to get right, especially in headphones, where it's pretty much impossible. You need individual drivers for each channel, placed properly and wired so they can produce an experience similar to having speakers for each channel in a home theater. No matter what sort of processing tricks you use, you just can't emulate a surround-sound system with two drivers. The Logitech G35 makes a valiant effort with its two 40mm drivers, but this gaming headset falls short of offering the 7.1-channel sound it promises. It does sound good, and it's well-designed, but it doesn't produce the surround sound necessary to justify its $129.99 (direct) price tag. DesignA few simple design choices turn the G35 from a plain, matte black headset into a well-made, intuitive device. The left ear cup holds a handful of physical controls that are both easier to access and more thoughtfully laid-out than most in-line cable remotes. The back plate of the ear cup holds a Mic Mute button, a large volume wheel, and three customizable buttons that can control media playback, microphone volume, and even voice changing through Logitech's G35 software. On the right side of the ear cup, a slider switch toggles Dolby Digital processing.

Logitech G35 Surround Sound Headset Review

It has been a while since I have reviewed a headset. I have been using the same one for quite some time and I was in need of an upgrade. I decided on the Logitech G35 Surround Sound Headset that features Dolby 7.1 sound, user-defined profiles, 3 swappable headbands, on-ear audio controls and much more. Let’s take a look and see if this headset was the right choice for my upgrade. Special thanks to Geeks.com for providing us with the Logitech G35 Surround Sound Headset to review. Geeks.com is a great place to find gaming accessories. The G35 headset came in a box with a few other items we received from Geeks.com. It was nicely wrapped in bubble-wrap and inside a plastic bag. The G35 headset has an all black design and is a little larger and heavier than other headsets that I have seen. The first thing that I noticed about this headset was the buttons on the left earpiece. Starting at the top you have 3 “G” keys which are programmable via the included software. Moving down you have a mute button and volume slider. There is a switch on the side of the earpiece that enables “Dolby Headphone”, which we will discuss later in the review.
