Monitor Reviews: 23'', 24'', 25'', 26'', 27'' and 28'' LCD Displays

It's a 23'' with a Full HD TN panel and LED backlighting—as well, of course, as a Freeview HD tuner. Like other hybrid TV/monitors, the M2380DF has lots of video inputs. At the back, there are two HDMI ports, VGA, SCART and component video. That's more than enough to connect a PC, a DVD player and a games console for instance. Unusually for a 23'' monitor, there's a media player that can access content on a USB key or an external hard drive, giving you access to JPEG photos, MP3 music and MKV, AVI or DivX video without having to turn your computer on. It's a shame that LG didn't go further and include a height-adjustable stand—that would have made it easier to face the screen without having to suffer from the poor vertical vision angles caused by the TN display. The monitor's HDMI inputs can produce rather unpleasant results when it's connected to a PC. We recommend you try the VGA port if you want to use it as a computer monitor. Unfortunately, we didn't even have to start our lab tests to see that this monitor can't reproduce colours accurately. It's most obvious in flesh tones which show a purple tinge. The tab results confirmed our first impressions, and we recorded a deltaE of 6.1.
