Corsair Vengeance M90 Performance MMO Gaming Mouse Review

The Corsair Vengeance M90 Performance MMO and RTS Laser Gaming Mouse sounds like an awesome broadsword or gun from your favorite video game -- after it's gone through accounting. Name aside, the M90 delivers a heady mixture of comfort and precision for those marathon gaming sessions. But at $79.99, the precision mouse costs more than most games. So is the M90 a major win or an epic fail?Click to EnlargeThe Vengeance M90 is an absolute pleasure to hold. The top of the mouse has a luxurious black soft-touch finish. A backlit Corsair logo sits toward the palm end of the device. A large button and the scroll wheel sit in the divide created by the left and right click buttons. A pair of buttons sitting adjacent to the left flap control adjusts DPI speed. The right side of the M90 has a rough black matte plastic finish that gave our pinky finger a steady grip. A total of nine buttons encircle a hollow area on the device's left. Our thumb fit nicely in the space, providing easy access to the buttons. Our ring and index fingers rested on the left and right click buttons while our middle finger controlled the scroll wheel.

Corsair Vengeance M90 Gaming Mouse Review

Corsair is a name that comes to mind when you think of RAM or SSDs and are well known for the quality of their products. The Vengeance M90 is a good first product geared toward MMO and RTS gaming. They also have a sister product the M60 geared toward FPS games. The M90 has an aluminum metal frame\base that gives it solid feel without a lot of weight. The brushed aluminum also is a nice contrast to the rugged black plastic. The mouse has a nice ergonomic shape that makes using the mouse for long periods of time comfortable. The scroll wheel is solid aluminum with a rubber scroll surface that provides good control and feel. The braided USB cord is a nice touch to complete this package. A quick look on their website, leads me to believe there is no left handed version. fter exclusively using this mouse for 2 weeks and 80+ hours, for both work and fun, I can honestly say this mouse is very comfortable to use and the hardware profiles would be my choice. My thumb fits comfortably on the side within all the buttons without accidently pressing any of them. I do not have a small hand, but I noticed with the way I hold the mouse I had to stretch for the default DPI up button and some of the thumb buttons.

Corsair Vengeance M90 and K90 Review

Now that we've pulled the M90 out of the box let's take a good look and see if it is something worthy of sitting on your mousepad. From the top-down perspective it takes a left-side dominance rather than begin horizontally symmetrical like some mice. It’s almost as if you are pointing with your mouse. The M90 has the smooth rubber feel all over except for the side buttons – they are just plastic – which makes them easy to feel and find. It seems to fit well in the hand; however, some of the buttons feel a little awkward to navigate my thumb to. The natural forward and backward button positions for me make the default forward and back buttons feel out of reach. Perhaps this is something I can get used to and will have to change to make it feel more natural. Either way, the ability to change things is there, so if you want to use different buttons it’s up to you to choose what and where. A little peek at the 9 macro buttons and you’ll see that you have a lot of options with this mouse. Designed for MMO or RTS game players, I feel this mouse has a home in any gamers setup regardless of game choice. It’s always nice to be able to give a smack down with the press of a mouse button rather than some key binding on the keyboard.
