CM Storm Inferno Gaming Mouse

The CM Storm Inferno is the second mouse of the CM Storm brand--the first is the CM Storm Sentinel Advanced, a mouse we really liked. At first glance, the CM Storm Inferno looks like a cut down version of the Sentinel Advance. For example, it has a resolution of "only 4000 dpi" compared to the 5600 dpi found on the Sentinel Advance. It also lacks the weight distribution system. However, if we look closer at the specifications, we notice that it instead has more built in memory and also allows us to set up more levels of resolution than the Sentinel Advance. But how does it compare to the Sentinel Advance? Read on to find out. The CM Storm Inferno is a black mouse intended for right-hand users. The sides are covered with a teflon-type material which makes it quite confortable to hold. Just as with the Sentinel Advance, this mouse has several buttons as well as LED lights. In total, there are 11 buttons on the mouse (including the two regular mouse buttons and the scroll-wheel). All the buttons except the front left thumb button are easy to reach. In contrast to the Sentinel Advance, this mouse has no weight distribution system, so users cannot change the weight of the mouse.

Cooler Master Inferno Gaming Mouse

Cooler Master has recently seen fit to branch out their product line with their new Inferno mouse, joining the Sentinel Advance in the lineup for those who, according to Cooler Master, prefer games like World of Warcraft, and other button-hungry, macro-requiring RTS and MMO games. You lose the questionably-useful OLED display and independent X/Y sensitivity levels (I know some people claim to love it, but I haven’t even figured out how to use them without nausea!), and gain… buttons. And they doubled the on-board macro memory to 128 KB. It’s really quite a nice looking piece of gear, too – they’ve added some unusual LED lighting; the forward-firing lights come on in response to mouse buttons in the most unique of the programmable modes. Our first impression was moderately positive – but once again, we at TechwareLabs are opinionated folks with high standards… typically set high by Razer and Logitech. Thankfully, the PC mouse industry has dragged itself out of stagnation lately; innovative products like the Magic Mouse with its sleek, swooping multi-touch interface, at least three different new types of mouse sensor, Mac drivers for gaming products, and solid competition for the Big Two.

CoolerMaster CM Storm Inferno review

CoolerMaster has been making a name for itself all over the components market. Last month it absolutely nailed the power supply supertest and we've been loving its chassis for many a long year. The gaming peripherals market hasn't been so fertile a ground for it up until now, but a new spin-off company has seen CM Storm take that slightly poisoned chalice on. First off was the rather impressive Sentinel Advance gaming mouse. We checked it out at the beginning of the year and a very favourable 4 out of 5 it got too. The CM Storm Inferno is of a similar ilk but redesigned WITH MORE BUTTONS. That's very important in gaming mouse terms, as are LED light-shows and headline-grabbing numbers in the DPI space. But there's something that feels rather cut-down and cut-price compared with CM Storm's last rodent-based outing. It feels like the budget sibling, and while it's cheaper by a fiver, it still feels a lot more lacking than that. The fact that the Sentinel Advance can hit a superior 5,600dpi isn't nearly as important as the lightweight feel of the Inferno.

Cooler master cm storm inferno laser gaming mouse

When one thinks of Coolermaster, images of PC cases and cooling products likely come to mind. The products don't stop there, however. Coolermaster also has their very own line of gaming products released under the CM Storm brand. A full line of cases, input devices, and mouse surfaces are available for the casual or hardcore gamers. Tweaknews had a look at the Sentinel Advance mouse from CM Storm several months ago and it proved to be one of the best gaming mice currently on the market. It performed well, was extremely comfortable, and had a wealth of customization options. There's a new kid in town though, and this time it's the Inferno gaming mouse from CM Storm. It features nine programmable buttons, 4000 DPI twin laser sensors, and a patented Storm Tactics Multiplier key designed for total customization. After using the Sentinel Advance I can tell you that the Inferno has a lot to live up to, so I'm eager to check it out and see how it stacks up. Owning the PC trenches for almost two decades, Cooler Master's veterans present their scars from battles past as claims of triumph over the competition.

CM Storm Inferno Gaming Mouse

Last fall, Cooler Master released its first true gaming mouse, and first peripheral under its "CM Storm" branding, the Sentinel Advance. In typical CM style, the company delivered an above-average product that in the end, left us impressed. The mouse featured a good comfort-level, lots of options, a nice design, and of course, flashy LED bling. Fast forward to the present day and we have the second model to enter the CM Storm line-up, the "Inferno". Sounds scary, doesn't it? Compared to the Sentinel Advance, the Inferno looks to amp things up on all levels, and like most high-end mice, tries to become the "ultimate" peripheral in a gamer's toolbox. As is standard of CM Storm gaming mice, the Inferno features a couple of unique selling-points that aim to give gamers tons of flexibility. While the Sentinel Advance includes 64KB of internal memory for storing settings, macros and scripts, the Inferno doubles it. In addition, the Inferno adds two primary buttons, "Rapid Fire" and "Macro". In total, the mouse includes 11 buttons, so we're inching just a bit closer to the day when a mouse also doubles as a keyboard.

I am very interested to see how well this mouse is going to be able to stack up against the others out on the market, so lets begin looking at it! There was no retail packaging that came with the Cooler Master Inferno mouse, so for obvious reasons, there is no detailed look at the packaging. That means we get to jump right into taking a look at the mouse; which lets face it, is exactly why you are here in the first place.
