The BenQ XL2420T is a 24-inch Full HD monitor that's first and foremost aimed at gamers. So in this particular model, it's not the 3D capabilities (3D glasses not included) that BenQ is keen to promote, but the high 120 Hz refresh rate for smooth, seamless images, and the fast response time. On paper, this monitor has plenty of features that should win over gamers, but how does it shape up in practice? Let's take a look. Although it's made entirely from plastic, the XL2420T casing doesn't feel cheap and nasty. A few red details here and there help add a touch of pizazz to what could otherwise be quite a plain product. While the stand isn't the most stylish piece of kit we've ever seen, it does at least have a distinct and original design compared with most other monitors. The product finish is good and none of the parts wobble or feel loose. The stand has all the features we like to see—it's height-adjustable, mounted on a swivel base and the screen can be spun around into portrait mode. However, with a TN screen panel, the portrait mode isn't always that practical, since the poor vertical viewing angles can become even more problematic when horizontal.
Designed by gamers for gamers, the BenQ XL2420T ($549 list) is a well-crafted, feature-rich 24-inch monitor offering nearly all of the bells and whistles that serious gamers crave. A speedy pixel response, a wealth of connectivity options, lots of customizable gaming modes, and a 120Hz refresh rate are only part of the deal; the TN+ panel delivers stunning colors and very dark blacks, and the panel can be adjusted to suit your ergonomic needs. It even comes with a neat little switch to help you adjust settings quickly and easily. You'll pay dearly for all this bling however, and the panel's off angle viewing is not quite up to par, but if you demand the best and don't mind paying for the privilege, the XL2420T is currently the cream of the gaming monitor crop. The XL2420T is housed in a matte black cabinet and sports thin (.75-inch) bezels on all four sides and a glossy panel on the back where the cabinet attaches to the height adjustable arm. The T-shaped base provides plenty of support for the 8.6-pound panel and offers tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustability. A red hook attached to the mounting arm gives you a place to hang your headphones, and there's a red oval cutout at the bottom of the mounting arm that helps keep cables organized while adding a splash of color.
Ever eager to hit the ground with the latest eye-candy, here's BenQ's excellent XL2420T.When it comes to PC monitors, there are two things we find particularly tiresome. The first is novelty "gaming" monitors underpinned by cynical marketing tie-ins. The second is finding yet another TN panel under our noses.Say hello, then, to the new BenQ XL2420T, brought to you by alleged pro-gaming legends HeatoN and SpawN. Yes, we've just barely heard of them, too. And, yup, the BenQ XL2420T has a 24-inch TN panel. Oh dear. But bear with us, because this monitor is so much better than just another chintzy branding exercise with a cheap panel. For starters, it supports Nvidia's 3D Vision 2 technology, which means LightBoost is part of the mix. LightBoost essentially comprises double the brightness of the original, while 3D Vision 2 also brings revised shutter glasses. The BenQ XL2420T also has a great chassis and an unusually good TN panel. But is it enough to sideline the 3D monitor competition such as the LG DM2350D or Asus VG278H? Let's find out.First up, the basic image quality kicked out by the BenQ XL2420T is truly exceptional.
We’re back with another offering from BenQ. This time it’s in the form of the BenQ XL2420T 24-inch LED backlit high-performance gaming monitor. BenQ state that it’s perfect for competitive FPS games and has been co-developed with Counter-Strike legends, so we’re expecting great things from the XL2420T. Let’s take a closer look… 16 550x373 BenQ XL2420T Monitor Review The monitor features a black and red theme throughout and has a relatively slim design that means you’ll have plenty of room on your desk still. You’ve also got the BenQ logo in the centre of the monitor border. As with the previous BenQ monitor we reviewed, the RL2240H, there are no labels on the monitor buttons featured on the right-hand side. Whilst this could be confusing, just lightly hovering over the touch sensitive buttons will reveal the popup menu on the display. Moving around to the left side of the monitor you’ll find two USB 2.0 ports as well as a headphone jack. The XL2420T features a cable hole in the stand for the various monitor and power cables, as well as a hook at the top of the stand. The cable hole and hook are a bright red gaming colour.
