Product Survey: 23'' to 28'' LCD Monitors

It's obviously aimed at users who want a stylish--luxurious, even--monitor. Because beauty is in the eye of the beholder, we'll move straight on to looking at the hardware. It's clear that Asus has made more attention to style than it has substance, because the LS246H only has VGA and HDMI video inputs, along with a headphone jack for the audio signal carried by the HDMI cable. That's too weak to score any higher than two stars in this section. This screen had a pleasant surprise in store for us. As is so often the case, we were expecting a product whose only real selling point was an unusual design--but it wowed us with an excellent response time as well. It's incredibly responsive, especially for a 60 Hz display. It has absolutely no trouble displaying the fast movements that are a feature of some games, and will be perfectly at home both with the latest games and the most basic office use. To round it all off, anybody who enjoys multiplayer gaming will be glad to hear there's nothing to fear here as the input lag is virtually nil, meaning there's no real delay between the action and what you see on screen. Using the factory settings, our colour measurements confirmed we had a very accurate monitor on our hands, and the average deltaE was below 2.3.
