Samsung SGH-T259

The Samsung SGH-T259 cell phone is the ultimate T-Mobile talker. While it doesn't have the most advanced feature set, it's good enough, and its voice quality is simply fantastic. At $29.99 with a two-year contract, the T259 is a great choice for anyone looking for a simple, inexpensive device on T-Mobile. That makes it our Editors' Choice for T-Mobile voice phones. The T259 is a typical flip phone. It measures 3.9 by 1.9 by .7 inches (HWD) when closed, and weighs just 3.15 ounces. It opens to a slender 7.2 inches, which I found to be a touch longer than ideal. There is a 1.3-inch external CSTN display with 128-by-48 resolution. It defaults to displaying a traditional clock face, but can be changed to display a digital clock with battery life, caller ID, date, ringer, and time. The phone is housed in shiny midnight blue plastic that I found to be rather attractive. This gives way to a black, matte interior when you flip it open. The display measures 2.2 inches, and while the resolution is a standard 240 by 320 pixels it looked sharp and was perfectly visible both indoors and out. The T259 is a quad-band EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and a dual-band HSDPA (1700/2100 MHz) 3G device with no Wi-Fi.
