Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus review: Aces wild

The original Galaxy Ace S5830 did well for Samsung in the midrange. And, as we all know by this point, midrange droids are a force to be reckoned with, especially among users looking to move up from dumbphones without breaking the bank. Now, exactly a year later, the S7500 Ace Plus enters the fray looking to build on the success of the original. It seems that Samsung has taken note of the major drawbacks found in its initial Ace offering, and provided improvements in many key areas, most notably a more robust processor and larger internal storage. And while it is an improvement per se, VGA video recording @ 30 fps is nothing to write home about, considering the original Ace had that fixed via a software update. Now that Samsung upped the processor to 1Ghz. That being said, the Ace Plus offers a spec sheet that we would write home about, if, you know, we didn't have cell phones and such. While there were no blatantly poor areas in which the original Galaxy Ace needed to be improved upon (besides the camera, of course), the updated processor, internal storage, RAM and slightly larger screen make the Ace Plus feel-and perform-like an upgrade.

Samsung S7500 Galaxy Ace Plus First look

Keen to place a contender in every nook and cranny of the smartphone market, Samsung are bringing the Galaxy Ace Plus on as a substitute for their midrange Galaxy Ace. Boasting a slightly bigger screen and a faster processor, the Galaxy Ace Plus could just be the right stepping stone for those coming from a dumbphone. It should be a relatively inexpensive upgrade of an entry-level droid too. Samsung have gone the extra mile with the Galaxy Ace Plus, treating it to Gingerbread 2.3.6 and the latest version of their TouchWiz UI for a more refined experience. There's been a boost to performance too. One thing that Samsung knew they needed to address was the poor video recording on the original Galaxy Ace. VGA @ 30 fps may sound like a waste of a 1GHz processor, but at least it's something, considering the predecessor had to make do with the miserable QVGA @ 15 fps. Here's what else the Galaxy Ace Plus has to offer. The Galaxy Ace Plus seems to be covering all its bases as a sensible midrange smartphone. It's not that the original Galaxy Ace has raised the bar too high, but it feels like Samsung fixed most of what needed fixing. We should be looking at an updated package that's well within the budget limits of the original.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus Review

The Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is an heir to the Galaxy Ace, which was outed a year ago, upping the CPU speed to 1GHz, and the screen size to 3.65”. Unfortunately, it is keeping the same HVGA resolution that was all the rage in 2006.It is not aiming to win any specs or design awards, but is it a decent player in the value-for-money category? Read on our review of this entry level Android handset from Samsung to find out...The overall looks are decent, and still anything but a black plastic design would be a welcome difference. The Galaxy Ace Plus has tapered back made of shiny black plastic, where the 5MP camera with LED flash and the speaker grill are situated. This glossy plastic is a bit slippery, but the phone sits well in the palm, and the screen is small enough to reach everywhere with your thumb only, making the handset suitable for one-handed operation. Size Visualization ToolThe brightness of the is good enough outside on the cloudy day we had, but it's not going to be very legible when stronger sunlight hits. Still, this can be said for many but the brightest smartphone screens, so it is fine. The colors are vivid, though, and the viewing angles decent.
