Like to talk and text? The Samsung Character may be just the phone for you. Like to take pictures and videos and email them to your friends? That's a little too much for this very basic phone. At $39.99 (with a two-year service agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate), the Samsung Character is a great, inexpensive messaging phone for U.S. Cellular subscribers. It's got a roomy slide-out keyboard, a nice touch screen, and Samsung's excellent TouchWiz Lite UI. Unfortunately, the lack of email support, video playback, and a lousy camera hold it back from being a true smartphone alternative. Design, Call Quality, and UI The Samsung Character measures 4.2 by 2.2 by .6 inches (HWD) and weighs 4.2 ounces. Made entirely of shiny plastic with a textured back panel, the Character is available in either dark grey or a shockingly electric blue. Either way, the phone feels solid and comfortable to hold. The 2.8-inch plastic resistive touch screen sports 240-by-320-pixel resolution, which is fine for an inexpensive feature phone. This has to be one of the best resistive touch screens I've ever seen. It's super fast and incredibly responsive. There are three function keys that sit below it, which are helpful and easy to press.

And so small can be big." You might also have noticed the characteristic S series logo in the background, which narrows down the potential release candidates to a small Galaxy S device. T...

Popular display analyzing company DisplayMate has decided to put the iPhone 5 through its various highly scientific tests and pit it against the Galaxy S III. The 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display of the Samsung flagship faces the 4-inch IPS LCD screen of the iPhone 5, as well as the 3.5-inch display of the iPhone 4 for good measure. DisplayMate tested many characteristics of the displays,...

OverviewPhillips has taken its sweet time in delivering its 2011 line-up of LED TVs, but this 7000 Series screen was worth the wait. Sticking to the brushed aluminium look that has served the brand well in the last few years, this 42-inch Edge LED TV screen's headline act is Easy 3D.It's perhaps the best, simplest name yet for the passive 3D system (LG calls in Cinema 3D), although we're slightly ...

The folks at Rovio are no strangers when it comes to cross-promoting their brand with other gigantic names in the business, this time with Samsung and their Galaxy Note device, showing how even cartoon characters can use this massive in-between the tablet and handset Galaxy Note to cut out images and share them with friends.
