Plantronics Voyager PRO+ Review
In a direct follow up to its Voyager PRO model from last year, Plantronics is at it again with its similar looking Voyager PRO+ Bluetooth headset. Although we didn’t particularly find its predecessor to be enticing to warrant a worthy recommendation, hopefully this year’s model makes some improvements to deem it a worthy successor. Aside from seeing the same set of features reappearing once again, this time around, the includes A2DP technology, on-screen battery meter with the iPhone, WindSmart technology for wind protection, voice alerts, and Multipoint technology – all for $99.99. But will it actually make a difference when it comes down to being a usable hands-free solution?Targeting the business minded user of course, the Plantronics Voyager PRO+ doesn’t deviate one bit from the design of its predecessor. You’d think that they’d at least minimize its overall size, but we’re presented with an exact facsimile – from materials to design, it’s absolutely an identical replica. As for comfort, it surprisingly doesn’t feel heavy at all despite its larger size – thanks to the majority of its weight being supported by the back of the ear.
Plantronics Voyager Pro+
Plantronics has another winner with the Voyager Pro+ Bluetooth headset ($99.95 direct), an upgrade of last year's excellent Plantronics Voyager Pro (4 stars) that includes A2DP streaming and Vocalyst voice services, among other refinements. There's even a new voice-prompt-based user interface. Like its forebear, the Voyager Pro+ is a great-sounding, supremely comfortable Bluetooth headset for anyone who needs to wear one all day, every day. There's no getting around the Voyager Pro+'s size. With the mic boom fully extended, the Voyager Pro+ measures 4.1 by 2.3 by 1.0 inches (HWD) and weighs 0.6 ounces. It's made entirely of black and silver plastic, with a hard rubber edge around the inside of the massive ear hook that rests against your ear. Still, it's lightweight and balanced enough that it feels just like wearing a much smaller headset. If anything, the Voyager Pro+ is more comfortable to wear. To ensure you get a good fit, Plantronics throws in three rubber gel tips in different sizes, plus two foam ear tip covers if you want to duplicate the feel of the older Voyager 510. There's also an included AC adapter and a microUSB-to-USB cable in the box.
Plantronics Voyager Pro Plus
The Plantronics Voyager line of headsets is legend in the Bluetooth headset world. The old-school Voyager 510 has many rabid fans and last year's Voyager Pro has earned its fair share of recognition as well. This might come as a surprise for some people--after all, these headsets are quite bulky compared with its more modern counterparts--but the Voyager's sound quality and comfort are prized above its appearance. This year, Plantronics has released an improvement upon last year's model: the Plantronics Voyager Pro Plus. Its design is largely unchanged, but it has a lot more features. Not only does it now have A2DP streaming, it also has voice alerts, a battery meter for the iPhone (with support for more smartphones in the future), increased wind noise reduction, and support for Plantronics new Vocalyst phone service. For $99.99, we think the Plantronics Voyager Pro Plus is definitely worth the upgrade. The Voyager Pro Plus is fairly identical to its predecessor, the Voyager Pro. It's definitely not a dainty little headset--it has a large swiveling boom mic with die-cut WindSmart screens to help reduce wind noise, and a large over-the-ear battery pack.
