Plantronics M100 Bluetooth headset
Look, it is a fact that most of us tend to use our phones while driving. All of us lead pretty busy lives, and the idea of merely driving along (concentrating on the road alone) doesn't seem to appeal to some of us anymore! Our advice is, drive with your eyes on the road. However, if that isn't your way on the highway, do the sensible thing and get a Bluetooth communication. This will keep your hands free from the phone, and on the wheel. The Plantronics K100 Bluetooth speaker is one such interesting solution. Or, if you want the conventional Bluetooth headset, then go right ahead. Plantronics M100 is one such headset which you can buy. Is it any good? Let's find out. The Plantronics M100 looks superb whichever way you look at it. The slightly metallic finish to the dark gray and blue colour combination just oozes class, but in an understated way, which is the only way class should err ooze. The call connect/disconnect button is nicely masqueraded within the contours, only highlighted by the blue coloured borders. The indicator is on the inner side of the headset, and doesn't flash on the outside. The earloop can be twisted and turned in many directions, making it flexible and comfortable.
Plantronics M100
The Plantronics M100 falls squarely in the middle of the market in terms of pricing. Even so, it turns out $79.95 buys a host of standard features, including a dual-mic design, voice alerts, automatic gain compensation for noisy environments, and external wind noise reduction. It's also a good performer, although it doesn't sound quite as good as the company's larger Voyager Pro ($99.99, ). Plantronics smoothed out and slimmed down the Explorer 395 ($49.99, ) to build the pricier M100, while retaining the former's good qualities. The M100 is made entirely of plastic, which is fine for a Bluetooth headset, and helps contribute toward its extra-light 0.3-ounce weight. The M100 is mostly dark grey, with blue, green, pink, or grey accent colors. The front panel is clean except for the main multi-function button. The top edge features a volume switch that cycles through five settings, which wasn't ideal. The bottom edge holds a welcome sliding power switch. The back panel is finished in a matte version of the chosen accent color. It features a multi-color status LED along with the detachable ear tip and the main mic.
Plantronics M100
Plantronics rarely steers us wrong when it comes to Bluetooth headsets, so we were pleased to hear the company has released yet another one, dubbed the Plantronics M100. Designed to be a midtier model for the urban professional, the M100 has a nice, slim design and features voice alerts and multipoint, in addition to the usual noise-canceling features. We were also pleasantly surprised by the addition of a headset battery meter specifically for iPhone users. We did wish the M100 had A2DP streaming as well, but for a mono headset, we were pleased with the Plantronics M100. The Plantronics M100 is available for $79.95 retail. The M100 doesn't look too eye-catching at first glance, but that's because it wasn't designed to be noticed. At 2.2 inches long by 0.5 inch wide by 0.25 inch thick, the M100 is one of the thinnest headsets we've seen. Wrapped in charcoal gray, the headset has thin stripes of color (green, blue, or pink) that run its length. Since it's so skinny and nondescript, it looks very discreet when worn, and not at all like the bulky telemarketer headsets of old. Right on the front of the headset is the multifunction call button, located toward the top of the headset and flanked between two stripes. It has a curved surface so it was easy to find and press.
Plantronics M100 Bluetooth Headset Review
Plantronics is a Bluetooth headset brand we're very familiar with here at SlashGear, having tested the company's past few generations of models. Of course, that developing heritage can be both a blessing and a curse: the bar is set high, and any new headset needs to not only offer performance to match the price-tag but justify its existence over its predecessors. Next up is the Plantronics M100, a compact dual-microphone headset with a relatively compact $79.99 MRSP. Can its iPhone integration and other functionality keep it distinct not only from rivals but previous models? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut. If they're going to be suitable for daily wear, we expect our Bluetooth headsets to be discrete. Happily the M100 fits the bill, with a slimline design in matte black and blue plastics. As with other Plantronics models, the ear-loop is optional (and hinges to suit left or right ear wearing); if you prefer you can use one of the three different sizes of gel ear tips to hold the M100 in place. It's certainly lightweight enough for that, though we had a little trouble picking the right ear tip: we felt we needed something in-between the standard sizes.
