Sat Nav Reviews

Navigon has taken the opportunity presented by the arrival of the Navigon Flow interface to renew its mid-range offer. The Navigon 42 Premium comes with a resistive 4.3-inch touchscreen, voice commands and Bluetooth. We’ve been back on the road with it to see if the added services make the difference. The Navigon 42 Premium is built with mostly black, matte plastics to give a sober finish. Two light grey bands brighten up the overall impression a bit. The finish is good and it's assembled with just four screws showing on the back of the device. The sat nav has a mini-USB socket (cable supplied) for link-up to a PC and the vehicle’s cigarette lighter (adaptor included). It’s a shame that Navigon didn't go for a 2-in1 to group these two features together. Although it’s rather big, the suction mount that's supplied with the sat nav is robust and the attachment is quite practical when you’ve worked it out. It’s a shame that no power supply is included in the mount however, as the fact that it’s so big means you’ll tend to want to leave it in place on the windscreen rather than carrying it around with you. You therefore have to connect the cable up to the sat nav itself every time you want to charge it, which isn’t the most practical of systems.
