If you're going to release a new Bluetooth headset these days, you need a hook - and not just one that fits around the ear. The dual-mic Motorola H17txt offers a big, brand-new feature: voice-enabled texting. Using the company's MotoSpeak app, the H17txt reads text messages into your ear, so you don't have to take your eyes off the road. I ran into some bugs during the test. But for anyone with a Droid Incredible ($199.99-529.99, ), Motorola Devour ($79.99-479.99, ), or other Android smartphone, , or a recent BlackBerry running OS 4.5 or later, the H17txt is the headset to buy; otherwise, better choices are available. The lightweight H17txt measures 1.7 by 0.7 by 0.4 inches (HWD) and weighs just 0.3 ounces. A collapsible boom mic doubles as the power switch; fold it closed, and the headset shuts off. Open it, and a bit of music plays, followed by a voice prompt noting connection status and current battery life. The H17's angle adjusts with soft but deliberate clicks. The translucent plastic ear hook was a little tight, but in a good way; once I fit the headset, there was virtually no pressure on my ear, and the H17 stayed put. The headset also comes with two extra ear hooks and two extra ear cushions in different sizes.
