The Motorola Bali for Boost Mobile is a great-sounding voice phone. That, combined with its reasonable $129.99 price tag and cool external control pad all sound promising. But alas, weak multimedia features and a nonstandard headphone jack render this cell phone just okay. It's still a fine choice for Boost Mobile users focused on voice quality, but there are similar, less-expensive options available. I'm not crazy about the design of the Bali, but it's nice to see Motorola trying something a little different. Thin for a flip phone, the Bali looks like a slightly more angular, jagged Motorola Razr. Measuring 3.8 by 1.8 by .6 inches (HWD), the 2.6-ounce Bali is covered mostly in shiny black plastic with a few chrome buttons. The phone looks and feels a bit cheap, though the outside control panel is a nice touch. The interior looks better, featuring a keypad carved into textured plastic. While this looks sleek, it comes at the expense of functionality; because the keys are barely raised from the pad, it makes for an awkward dialing experience. The 2.2-inch, 176-by-220-pixel interior display is serviceable, but it lends a somewhat harsh edge to text and images. When flipped shut, the exterior of the phone is home to a number of touch-sensitive keys.
