As Bluetooth headsets go, the BlueAnt Q2 fulfills its job as a communication aid well. But it works best when you use your voice as much as possible (instead of its buttons) to interact with it. For a hook-oriented headset, the fit feels comfortable, sturdy, and lightweight to boot. (We tested the silver-hued Q2 Platinum version, priced at $130 as of March 1, 2011.) Hook-based headsets almost always require two hands and a certain amount of adjusting to insert, so I was pleasantly surprised at being able to place the Q2 in my ear single-handedly. You can push the hook itself in towards the headset base unit (as well as farther out); thanks to that flexibility, I arrived at a nice, tight fit. You can also pull out the hook entirely, swap the earbud cover for the stabilizing one, and wear the Q2 hook-free. The fit this way also felt comfortable and snug, even while I walked around. The Q2 responds to the same set of commands you utter with the company's BlueAnt S4 portable in-car speakerphone. Tap the Q2's multifunction button at the side of the headset, and you can say "Call back" or "Redial," for example, or "Phone commands, dial Mariana mobile 1." When a call comes in, Q2 kindly identifies the caller, and you can say "Answer" or "Ignore."

Potentially establishing itself as the premier, sophisticated, and functional Bluetooth headset out there, the just might earn its way up to your ear as it features a medley of technology to keep it high on the totem pole. Clearly sitting atop at their high-end offering, it's going to take a lot of outstanding performances in various aspects to keep the $129.99 investment in owning this device a very meaningful one. Regardless, being the successor to the late BlueAnt Q1, the Q2 aims to continue the stellar achievements and marks obtained by its predecessor and catapult itself to new realms. Included with the are 5 ear buds, an ear hook, carrying pouch, microUSB cable, AC adapter, and a quick start guide.From a cursory glance, the BlueAnt Q2 retains the same form factor and size of its predecessor with its elongated thin profile that's curved to perfectly hug the contours of your face. In addition, the all black plastic construction of the Q2 is elegantly complemented with two shiny metallic strips racing down its facade. It's simplistic, yet stylish design, utterly cements itself as a reasonable looking Bluetooth headset that's sure to give you some looks.
BlueAnt Q2
The BlueAnt Q2 builds on the company's earlier Q1 ($129.95, ) and V1 ($129.95, ) voice-controlled headsets. The Q2 features automated voice search, companion Android and BlackBerry apps, and A2DP music and GPS voice prompt streaming from smartphone apps. At $129, it's firmly at the high end of the Bluetooth headset range. But this is one headset that's worth the cash, even if BlueAnt still hasn't gotten all the bugs out of its Android app. The Q2 looks like a proper executive-style headset. It is made entirely of matte black plastic, but the textured front panel and raised edges give it a classy look. Plenty of useful hardware controls abound, including a power switch, a multi-function button, and a pair of volume buttons where each one is a different size - perfect for controlling the volume without having to guess. BlueAnt bundles five rubber ear tips and a removable ear hook in the box, though the default ear tip fit me perfectly. The back panel holds the earpiece and rubber tip, a slot for the pivoting ear hook, and a small rubber pad near the front that rests against your cheek while wearing the unit.
BlueAnt Q2
BlueAnt continues to enlarge its voice-controlled headset family with the BlueAnt Q2, which is the successor to the much-lauded Q1 that it introduced last year. The Q2 is dubbed a "smart" headset that is designed to take advantage of most smartphones (specifically iPhones, Android handsets, and BlackBerrys) with its advanced text-to-speech and voice-control features, but it will work with regular phones too. In many ways, the Q2 features are similar to the T1, but it is far sleeker in appearance. The BlueAnt Q2 will retail for $129. When you place the Q1 and the Q2 side by side, the two headsets don't look too much like each other. Measuring around 2.17 inches long by 0.63 inch wide by 0.27 inch thick, the Q2 does have the same dimensions and slim profile as its predecessor, but that's where the similarities end. Instead of a sleek gunmetal exterior, the Q2 has a large piece of mesh plastic that covers most of the front. As we understand it, this acts as a wind guard that protects the headset's two microphones. Also located underneath the mesh is a tiny LED light that glows when the headset is activated. On the front is a skinny multifunction button, which is different from the Q1's round logo-adorned one.
