Flushed with the success of the HX923, Sony is back in our lab today with its NX723 television. The new model owes its stylish looks to the firm's monolithic design, while on the inside it can boast support for 3D and a Motionflow XR 200 filter, with a 100 Hz refresh rate and backlight sweeping. Its LCD display has Edge LED backlighting around the outside of the screen and online services are provided via the Qriocity platform. The design remains relatively unchanged compared to last year, but there's a new amplified stand available as an optional extra. On its own, the monolithic frame is just 2.7 cm thick and finished with a single pane of glass in front of the LCD screen. The whole thing looks great and benefits from an excellent build quality. The downside is that the glass inevitably picks up reflections, so you'll need to keep this TV away from direct light if you don't want them to spoil the view. The selection of inputs and outputs covers what is now standard: four HDMI ports, one VGA, one SCART, one composite video and two USB ports. Of the USB ports, you can use one for a storage device as a PVR, allowing you to pause live TV and make recordings, while the the second can be used to access your own content via the media player.
