Ricoh preps new GXR camera module

By Imaging Resource, published 29-11-2011

An update to the global website of Ricoh Co. Ltd. reveals that it's working on a new camera module for its GXR camera system. Announced in late 2009, the Ricoh GXR is extremely unusual in offering interchangeable modules that couple both a lens, sensor, and image processor in a single unit, rather than the more typical interchangeable lens design found on most competing cameras. The design also... (read more)

Compact system camera rumours rounded up

By TechRadar, published 26-07-2011

Compact system cameras are a fantastic compromise between picture quality and size. For those looking for high quality images, but want the convenience of a smaller camera, a compact system model is often the answer.Currently, the CSC (Compact System Camera) market is booming, with models from major manufacturers including Olympus, Sony, Panasonic, Pentax and Samsung. Panasonic was first to join the CSC revolution, launching the Micro Four Thirds sensor camera, the Lumix G1 in Japan back in October 2008. But it's really since Olympus entered the market in late 2009 with the PEN, that we've seen the boom in products. Since launching the vintage styled PEN in autumn 2009, and following it with other spin-off models including the E-PL2, the company has recently launched the third iteration of...

Review: Leica X1

By TechRadar, published 27-04-2011

Leica X1 review: overviewThe X1 used for this review has the recently updated firmware, V.2.0Leica's foray into the digital world may have been at a slower and more considered pace than what we're used to seeing, but working in partnership with Panasonic has nevertheless meant that it's managed to saturate a healthy range of the camera market. For more everyday use the company's point-and-shoot C-LUX and enthusiast D-LUX ranges sit at the base of its stable, while the M9 rangefinder and S2 medium format model lie at the other end to cater for professionals. In between the two, and among a handful of intermediate models, sits the X1, which can safely be considered as the company's answer to the growing popularity of compact system cameras. In many ways the model is unique, or at least it wa...
