I got some requests and since I once learned this song, why not learn it again and make a cover out of it? This is a great song, maybe a bit overrated thanks to Guitar Hero but it's nevertheless awesome. I learned it 100% by ear, even if I used tabs when I learned it the first time a couple of years ago. As usual, I've covered all guitars. And the shirt I used was bought before Metallica was supposed to play the cancelled show in Stockholm, but they're back in May! Recorded the 9-10th of April 2009 using a Pentax Optio M30 regular digital camera. Edited using Magix Music Maker 10 Deluxe and streamed as a 640x480 resolution Windows Media Video with 25 fps. Guitar: Washburn X16 G13 (with EMG 81/85). Amplifier: Peavey 6505+ and an Ashdown Peacemaker 412A cabinet with Celestion G12E-50 speakers. NEW COVER MADE: www.youtube.com Finally I've made my second cover, this time Holy Wars... The Punishment Due. Should've done this way earlier but wanted to wait until I got my new amp first. Most of the information is provided in the video, but just to waste your screen space I'll write them here as well. Recorded the 5th and 7th (using a Pentax Optio M30), edited the 8th-10th and finally streamed and uploaded the 11th using Windows Media (640x480, 25 fps.) Video editing program used was Magix Music Maker 10. Guitar: Washburn X16 G13 (with EMG 81 and 85). Amplifier: Peavey 6505+ and an Ashdown Peacemaker 412A (rare) with Celestion G12E-50 speakers. Settings: Pre: 7,5 Low: 10 Mid: 0 High: 7,5 Post: 0,9 (too high would make it sound horrible with a dig cam) Resonance: 10 Presence: 10 Strings: D'Addario Prosteels .009-.042 Pick: Dunlop Jazz III Effects: Ibanez WD7 Weeping Demon Note: The solos and the rest of the song were recorded separately. Master of Puppets is Metallica's best song in my opinion, so I had to make a cover. Because of a problem where my camera doesn't seem to record at the exact right tempo, I have to re-sync the video multiple times. There's no problem with the audio however, since I record all audio with an mp3-player (at the same time). But because of the camera issue, the video gets more out of sync as the time passes by. Thus I have to move the video a split second every minute. You may find the video a bit out of sync sometimes. YouTube made it even more out of sync, well I hope you enjoy it anyway! Recorded the 4th - 7th of July 2009 using a Pentax Optio M30 regular digital camera, audio recorded with an iAudio 7. Edited using Magix Music Maker 10 Deluxe and streamed as a 640x480 resolution Windows Media Video with 25 fps. Drums recorded the 7th of July 2009, using a cheap mixer, JJLabs microphones, and Peace drums with one Zildjian Planet Z-cymbal (right) and one Sabian B8 16" rock crash (left). Guitar: Washburn X16 G13 (with EMG 81/85). Amplifier: Peavey 6505+ and an Ashdown Peacemaker 412A cabinet with Celestion G12E-50 speakers. This video opens with a quick introduction containing two clips from my old Wake Up Dead cover, recorded in the late summer of 2007. My worst rated cover, this song deserved another try. I have receive a few requests in comments on that old video, so I've finally done it. This time, with my newest guitar so that I can make the dives properly. I've also included all solos and riffs this time, drums and a Megadeth t-shirt! This song is great and despite it's lack of more than two verses and no choruses, and on the edge of being classified as an instrumental, it's one of their most popular songs, and the ending riff is very original. Mustaine's solos are without doubt some of his best (especially the last one) and Poland's solo adds a bit of versatility. Recorded the 27th - 30th of July 2009 using a Pentax Optio M30 regular digital camera, audio recorded with an iAudio 7. Edited using Magix Music Maker 10 Deluxe and streamed as a 640x480 resolution Windows Media Video with 25 fps. I re-covered this song since I didn't feel satisfied with my first. The reason why it took several weeks to record it was because I could nail Friedman's solos better and better for each day, and I developed as I, frustrated by failure, attempted to record. Thus the recording of the solos used in the video got delayed. It was originally intended to feature drums like its predecessor, but the main drum beat was kind of hard to copy and play perfectly thanks to the hi-hat. My first attempt? As you can hear, I was a little off-beat there as well. And I rather not play them at all than play quarters instead of 8ths on the hi-hat. It's not a very heavy song, but it has Friedman's best solos in my opinion and many original ideas. Recorded from January 22nd to February 8th of 2010 using a Pentax Optio M30 regular digital camera, audio recorded with an iAudio 7. Edited using Magix Music Maker 10 Deluxe and converted as a 640x480 resolution Windows Media Video with 25 fps. This is the song I've got most requests for, so I simply had to do it. It's pretty good too, and fun to play with all the solos. As you can see I looked a little bored during the part where you repeat that same figure over and over again, but don't worry, it was also because I was a bit sick when I recorded it. This is the first time I used anything else than .009-.042-strings, they were the only ones lying around. The camera-problem is still making it a bit hard to sync the video with the audio but it seems I've managed better this time. Recorded the 15th - 17th of July 2009 using a Pentax Optio M30 regular digital camera, audio recorded with an iAudio 7. I wasn't quite happy with my old cover of this song, partly due to my EQ-settings, partly due to my playing. So this time I was stubbornly determined to make it perfect, and to be honest, I had to re-play Friedman's solos LOTS of times, across several days, and that's why it took me five days to upload this cover. I think this should do it, it's not like Friedman himself but I got the notes and almost the expression right. This is arguably Megadeth's best song. This is actually the song that once got me into Megadeth, and the masterminds of Mustaine and Friedman are definitely shining in this one. Recorded from December 30 of 2009 to January 3 of 2010 using a Pentax Optio M30 regular digital camera, audio recorded with an iAudio 7. One of my favourite songs from Rust In Peace and Megadeth overall. Intense, fast tempo and many fills makes this really fun to play on both guitar and drums. I learned it from a Powertab-file from ultimate-guitar.com, but I tabbed the awesome bass-tapping fill myself. The clean channel with a guitar isn't quite like a bass but still pretty close I hope. Recorded the 17th of April - 19th of May 2009 using a Pentax Optio M30 regular digital camera. Edited using Magix Music Maker 10 Deluxe and streamed as a 640x480 resolution Windows Media Video with 25 fps. I've got a few requests for this one, so I learned it in a few days just to record it. But I'd have learned it anyway, since this song might well be one of Megadeth's most solo-dense. Both Mustaine and Friedman has some of their best solos in this song. And it's got some very great riffs too. Since I've recently learned how to avoid my camera issue (for more information, see earlier videos), this is probably my best cover thus far, almost perfect in timing and synchronization. You'll better enjoy it! ;) Recorded the 22nd - 23rd of July 2009 using a Pentax Optio M30 regular digital camera, audio recorded with an iAudio 7. I've been looking forward to make a cover of this song for a very long time. It's definitely one of my favourite Megadeth songs and the intro is their best, most beautiful and epic musical section ever. It's a pure thrash song. The intro solo is amazing and it's difficult to mimic the feeling. This may well be the Megadeth song I've put most effort into learning. The main riff is pretty hard, and the intro's clean "riff" is very complex and takes a lot of time to learn. It's probably Megadeth's hardest song before Rust In Peace. Recorded the 28th - 30th of August 2009 using a Pentax Optio M30 regular digital camera, audio recorded with an iAudio 7. Edited using Magix Music Maker 10 Deluxe and streamed as a 640x480 resolution Windows Media Video with 25 fps. I've gotten a LOT of requests for this song, and since I'm on my way to finish Rust In Peace, why not? I have to admit it's not my favourite song, but it's pretty cool, especially the solo. Recorded the 30th of November - 8th of December 2009 using a Pentax Optio M30 regular digital camera, audio recorded with an iAudio 7. Edited using Magix Music Maker 10 Deluxe and streamed as a 640x480 resolution Windows Media Video with 25 fps. Drums recorded using a cheap mixer, JJLabs microphones, and Peace drums with one Zildjian Planet Z-cymbal (right) (I didn't use it because there's no china in this song - it's broken and it kind of represents a china) and one Sabian B8 16" rock crash (left). A built-in crappy EQ in the software was used for the drums. Guitar: Washburn X16 G13 (with EMG 81/85). Amplifier: Peavey 6505+ and an Ashdown Peacemaker 412A cabinet with Celestion G12E-50 speakers. Settings: Lead channel: Pre: 7.5 Low: 3 Mid: 3 High: 9 Post: 1 Resonance: 1.5 Presence: 8.5 Strings: D'Addario Regular Light EXL110 .010-.046 Pick: Dunlop Jazz III If you rate it, please motivate and write a comment too.
