My new Panasonic SDR-H85

I mounted my camera to my generic device mount on my windshield. This video proves that I need a new, more stable mount. I knew it would be shaky, so I wanted to try out the image stabilization function in the camera. It doesn't help with persistent heavy shaking (just as it says in the manual) but I had to try. However, this has turned out to be an outstanding and affordable camera for personal use. It has a great picture, lots of functions, and pretty darn good mic. I was very impressed. It runs for about $340 at the Lees Summit, MO, Best Buy store.

Also I wanted to give this video a new flavor with the count down sequence before the title screen. This is a good training cam. I highly recommend a fluid mount tripod over the cheap friction mount, your video will catch every creek and crack in both audio and motion. 78× optical zoom on a Panasonic SDR-H85-K camcorder. Testing from the mainland towards North Stradbroke Island which is approximately 12km (7.5miles) away from recoding location. This is the PAL version of the Panasonic SDR-H85, a standard-definition camcorder with HDD recording, as well as a slot for an optional SD card. It has the longest optical zoom available for a camcorder, but to achieve that it uses a very tiny image sensor that gives it below average picture quality, even for a standard-definition camera. Being a PAL camera, it records 720×576 .MOD files at 25fps which turns out a little extra choppy than it should be. An NTSC version with 30fps would deliver smoother motion. OIS is off in most of the video XP mode is on
