Logitech's recent portable speaker line features three different products nestled into a budget price range. The Logitech Rechargeable Speaker S315i is a portable Apple iPod and iPhone dock that, at $99.99 direct, matches the smaller Logitech Wireless Speaker Z515 ($99.99, 3.5 stars) in price. The two speaker systems are also similar in audio quality (not terribly good), but they bring different feature sets to the table. Both are suitable as portable speakers, and we'll discuss their relative strengths in a moment. If you're looking for more solid audio quality, Logitech Rechargeable Speaker S715i ($149.99, 3.5 stars) is basically a larger, more powerful version of the S315i, but nothing in this trio of portable speakers offers truly high quality audio performance. Measuring 5.2 by 10.8 by 1.8-inches when closed and weighing 1.5 pounds, the black, rounded design of the S315i expands to about 3.3 inches deep when the docking tray/kickstand is opened. The front face is covered in a black metallic grille that hides two speaker drivers, one on either side of the docking area. From the closed position, you simply push on the centralized docking tray and it moves backward, at once exposing the 30-pin connection for iPods and iPhones and acting as a kick stand, angling the speakers upward towards your ears for better listening.
