Leica Camera AG has this week introduced its new V-Lux 3 digital camera, a twelve megapixel model with a 24x optical zoom lens. As with all of the company's fixed-lens digital cameras except the X-1, the Leica V-Lux 3 is a rebadged variant of another camera--specifically, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150, which we just reviewed a few weeks ago. Comparing the spec sheets for the two cameras reveals little in the way of differences, although Leica does list a slightly lower overall weight. The most significant difference--beyond the little red dot on the camera's front, anyway--is the useful... (read more)

There are so many digital cameras on the market that you can find one to suit any need or want. Some of the cameras are dirt cheap, and others can cost more than a very nice new car. The high-end offerings have more resolution and are often aimed at professionals who need to scale high-resolution images all the way up to gigantic billboard size. A new digital camera from Boston Rule Camera has surfaced that will be landing this summer. The camera is called the TS3Cine, and it reminds me a lot of something that RED would make. It looks like a cross between a still camera and a camcorder with a bulbous grip on one side and a lens that sticks out quite a bit. The case of the camera is a matte black with a waffle design that reminds me of a speaker grill made from machined aluminum. The ful...

We have seen all manner of Leica cameras over the years and they all have a few things in common. These things include great photo quality, cool retro style, and a massive price tag. A new design concept that combines the cool Leica camera design with the high-tech iPhone smartphone has been unveiled. I will admit that the design is a bit weird. I’m not sure why you would want to combine an iPhone with the little digital camera myself. The concept is called the Leica i9 concept and it is from designers Black Design Associates LLC. The company points out that it is in no way affiliated with either Apple or Leica. That would mean this is no official design concept and the product will never come to market. Combing the iPhone with the little camera is weird to me, but I guess with all...
