Cisco may be ditching Flip, but that doesn’t mean other manufacturers aren’t keen to put out point-and-shoot HD camcorders. Samsung‘s HMX-W200 is the latest, a Full HD capable camera with a shock, water, dust and general-mistreatment resilient casing. Packing a 5-megapixel CMOS sensor, the W200 has an anti-water coating on its 2.3-inch 230k dot preview display, which Samsung reckons will prevent it from misting up with condensation. Handy for a sauna, though most of the time you’re probably not allowed to film in there anyway. Other specs include still shooting with autofocus and an F2.2 lens, digital image stabilization and microSD/SDHC for storage. The 1,300mAh battery is apparently good for up to 2hrs of continuous use, and it’ll withstand 3m submersion ...

We're big fans of Cisco's Flip digital video cameras. They're great for taking spontaneous HD videos on-the-go and quick uploading to your favorite social networking portals. Sadly, it looks as though Cisco is conceding the ultra-portable HD camera market to the growing number of capable smartphones and will cease producing Flip cameras. That's only part of the story. According to CNN, Cisco is abandoning several consumer businesses, not just the Flip, and will lay off around 550 employees in the process. Going forward, Cisco plans to serve consumers indirectly through its business customers instead of selling products direct to home users. "We are making key, targeted moves as we align operations in support of our network-centric platform strategy," Cisco CEO John Chambers said in a state...

Flip has been making its awesome little camcorders for a long time now including the Ultra HD, MinoHD, and the Slide HD. The Flip camcorders are cheap and that low price makes them some of the most popular camcorders on the market today. Flip has a new accessory for its camcorder line that has debuted. The accessory is a tripod called the Flip Video Action Tripod and it is designed with lots of flexibility to be able to stand the Flip camcorders on a surface and more. The tripod is designed to allow it to attach to all sorts of things like a bike or helmet for instance. Attaching the tripod to a helmet means that it will make for a nice little action camera. The tripod is cheap enough at $24.99 and it will work with all Flip camcorders. The neck of the tripod will allow the user to posi...
