Zalman Z9 Plus Mid Tower Case Review

Digg DiggWhile Zalman is known mainly for its cooling products, they do offer many other lines of products like PSUs, 3D Monitors, and even Cases. Today we get to look at one of their more popular cases, the Z9 Plus Mid Tower Case. It features an all-black paint job with plenty of cooling to go around. Inside this case you’ll find four 120mm fans, three of which have blue LEDs. Read on further to learn more about this case and to see what secret compartment is inside. Special thanks to Zalman for providing us with the Z9 Plus Mid Tower Case to review. The Zalman Z9 Plus comes in a pretty standard brown package along with some black and blue coloring. On the front of the case you’ll find a picture of the case along with some product information. On the sides you’ll also find the same information in multiple languages. The case is protected by two pieces of hard foam and a rather thick plastic bag. The Zalman Z9 Plus offers a wide variety of features you don’t typically find in cases of similar price. You’ll notice the full black paint job, both inside and out, to go along with the multitude of blue LED fans and ventilation holes for superior cooling.

Zalman Z9 Plus Mid-Tower Case

With the advancements in processor and graphics core architectures that the recent few months have seen, computer accessory manufacturers have been quick to produce parts and components that will match the new trends. Zalman's Z9 Plus Mid Tower computer case is one such product. Retailing for about USD 70 on Newegg and similar e-tailers, the Z9 Plus certainly looks attractive enough. Blue LEDs throughout and a sleek black design make this case great eye-candy for technophiles. The more important question, however, is whether the case can deliver on the inside. We'll bring you the answers to these questions, and more, as we take this case for a spin! The case comes in a simple cardboard box with the Zalman Z9 Plus decals on it. Inside, the case is encased in two thick pieces of styrofoam, which should be enough to ensure that no damage occurs during shipping. The case is also wrapped in a plastic bag to prevent scratches to the shiny plastic material. The case itself is made of plastic and aluminum. It has a fairly sturdy construction, and it should be able to withstand wear and tear without any problems.

Zalman Z9 Plus Mid-Tower Chassis Review

I'm starting to think that I have an incurable disease. It hasn't made it into any medical journals just yet, but it's very real. I call it CDO; case obsession disorder. I just cannot get enough of cases. Mini-tower, mid-tower, black, white, standard layout, custom layout... I like them all - provided they are functional and as quiet as possible. My latest guilty pleasure that I hope will scratch the itch is the Z9 Plus mid-tower case from Zalman. The company has long said that it specializes in quiet computing so if the features are there, this could prove to be a winner. A quick look at this case and it's clear that it takes some styling cues from the Zalman name. The front panel has a Z-design towards the bottom that covers part of where the 120mm blue LED intake fan is found. Rather than just covering up part of the fan and impeding air flow, the areas that overlap are vented, as is the area that runs along the bottom. Those who just cannot let go of old technology will be happy to know that there is also room for a floppy drive between the fan and the three mesh covered 5.25" drive bays. Installed in the floppy drive bay from the factory is a 5.25" to 3.5" converter used to secure the drive.

Zalman z9 plus case review

In my capacity as a computer hardware reviewer, I've had the pleasure to evaluate some of the best computer cases available. Several of these have come from Zalman. All the Zalman cases I've had in the lab have been of the highest quality with rich, innovative feature sets and striking aesthetics. Unfortunately, the high cost of these excellent products put them out of reach for the mainstream enthusiasts. Recently, however, Zalman has taken a stab at this large, but very competitive market with a couple of cases that fit nicely into the mainstream chassis category with respect to cost. First came the Z7 and Z7 Plus cases about a year ago. This year, Zalman has just released their Z9 and Z9 Plus cases with a bold new look and an improved design and feature set. We've got an example of their Z9 Plus case in the lab for evaluation and I'm anxious to take a closer look at it. Follow along as we do just that on Page 2 . Despite the fact that computers have become commonplace at home and at workplaces for a long time, true user-friendliness of the computers is still a long shot.
