Xigmatek hasn't been around the PC aftermarket for as long as some other companies, but they've certainly made a big splash, marketing some very innovative designs (including pioneering work in the direct touch heatpipe design) to good reviews from customers and the press alike. After reviewing several of their cooling products in the recent past, I've been very impressed by the cooling performance, but sometimes frustrated by the installation. Next, we got a chance to check out Xigmatek's Balder SD 1283 cooler and Dark Night coolers, which had great performance and a much improved mounting solution. This time out, Xigmatek has sent along an example of their Aegir SD 128264 cooler with a hybrid double-layer/direct touch heatpipe design and a new mounting solution. Xigmatek frequently goes back to Nordic mythology when naming their products and the Aegir is no exception. In Norse mythology, Aegir is a sea-giant and king of all sea creatures who frequently threw lavish parties for the gods, replete with copious quantities of ale. Follow along as we take a closer look at the Aegir and see what it brings to the party.
