ViewSonic VPC220T

As touch interfaces reshape the way people interact with technology, it's almost a given to see desktop manufacturers wedding touch-sensitive screens with large high-definition displays. One recent entrant in this category is the ViewSonic VPC220T ($999 direct), an all-in-one PC with a touch screen. While ViewSonic still has a few wrinkles to iron out, the VPC220T has the chops to compete alongside any of the touchscreen all-in-ones we've reviewed. The VPC220T looks fantastic with its 1080p HD screen, unfortunately, that beautiful screen will quickly get smudged and smeared with fingerprints when you use the touchscreen functions. All touchscreen PCs suffer from smudges, but the glossy screen of the ViewSonic seems particularly susceptible. The black plastic housing may not turn any heads, but the 21.5-inch widescreen's 1,920 by 1,080 resolution (1080p) widescreen surely will, being a step up from the 720p displays found many other all-in-one desktops. One problem I encountered was how unstable the desktop seemed to be. It was disconcerting to feel it wobble whenever I tapped on the touchscreen. This is likely due to the pedestal stand that the VPC220T uses.
