Great CPU cooler although expensive and not even including a fan it still is a perfect cooler for overclockers. Has 2 x 120mm fans that can be mounted in push/pull set up. Only one set of mounting clips are included so will have to get another. Great in silver or black but make sure to lap it is machined finish and not the flattest at that.

This thing is so big it's meant to be used passively, but you can also strap a low noise, low RPM cooling fan to it and get some seriously good performance with its huge surface area.

PowerColor HD4870 with Thermalright HR-03 GT and Noctua NF-B9 (92mm) Watch part 2 here : www.youtube.com In this video I'm reapplied the thermal paste using ArcticSilver 5 (46-55°C), strangely, it perform worse than my previous Thermalright Chill Factor (44-52°C). The reason I'm using NF-B9 is for silent build. At 1600rpm NF-B9 produce 37.8 CFM airflow at 17.6dB noise level, which is quite good. Depends on your build you could also use fan with faster RPM and airflow. You could also install 120mm fan to HR-03 GT, but you'll need to buy Thermalright 120mm fan clip. -Update 2008/7/15- *WARNING* : When installing HR-03 GT, make sure you install all the heat sink properly, including all *ALL* RAM and VRM (Voltage Regulator Module). In this vid I didn't install all (the one with Vitec printed on it, it gets extremely hot without heatsink). It could *PERMANENTLY* damage your card, since the HR-03 GT small heatsink itself will get hot without fan. Be sure to check your VRM temp after installing, not only your GPU temp. IMO, HR-03 GT cooling performance on the VRM isn't that good, yet no review site that cover this.

HD4870 with HR-03 GT & Noctua NF-B9 Part 2 Watch Part 1 here : www.youtube.com I changed my installation setup to Type 1. Also added secondary GPU fan cooler. With 790/1100 Clock, idle temp is 38°C, full load up to 50°C.

A quick movie showing how the game runs on my rig. Initially the game had a few stutters and freezes, but, after reading some helpful posts on the Codemasters forums and some tweaking it now plays great. :-) First I chose software audio instead of the default "Rapture" drivers Codies use in the game. Then I deleted the 2GB replay save file (C:ProgramData_Codemasters_FormulaOne_DataCache_myusername_Replay_replay.pbf), started the game and while the intro movies were going on I renamed to newly appeared 0 byte save file to read only. After that I went into the game config and tweaked the settings in the hardware_settings_config xml file, located in the savegame directory. Turning down the shadow mask quality to 0 has been found to provide good framerate improvements for those with older graphics cards. Doing those 3 things seemed to have helped me, your mileage may vary though. A big thanks to all the helpful guys on the codies forums who came up with the info. :-) I think there may be some frame rate limiting going on tho, the fps stays around 30-40fps at all times, it doesn't matter what resolution or graphics settings I choose I can't get over the magical 60fps barrier. So right now I'm playing at 1280x800 8XAA with all the settings on High (except shadow mask quality at 0) and am just enjoying it until a patch comes out or some new Nvidia drivers unlock those missing frames. Grid at the same settngs gets me a rock solid 60-80+ fps, the fps has to be throttled in F1 imo ...

The Thermalright HR-02 is currently cooling my Core i5 750 and I must say that I am a bit impressed with the performance. especially for it being designed as a passive cooler! Keep in mind however that fans may also be attached to the cooler if desired. Stay tuned to the TechExplosion review channel for the upcoming review of this cooler with Passive tests and tests with 1 Thermalright TR-TY-140 fan attached. Huge thanks to Thermalright for sending this out to me for review! Make sure you check out Thermalright at: www.thermalright.com and on twitter: twitter.com
