Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X
Sapphire has made quite a name for itself as one of the premier and largest AMD board partners and all with some stylish and simply impressive cards in the process. Today we look at the HD 7950 Vapor-X model and see what kind of magic has been infused in the DNA to make this card a must have for all the enthusiasts gamers out there. Sapphire has been making AMD cards since back when AMD first adopted the idea of having add in board partners handling the manufacture and selling of AMD GPUs. So now at over 10 years later they are still going strong with a much wider product line than ever as they have recently made the move into motherboards and even mini PC's or bookshelf PC's for media center usage. All of that aside, Sapphire has not forgotten its roots and it is still a lead innovator for AMD graphics solutions. Sapphire always has some reference and some more crazy or extreme designs such as the one we have today in, the Vapor-X model. Vapor-X has to do with the cooler design as the heatsink base which contacts the GPU is a vapor chamber design which quickly removes any heat from the GPU and pushes it out to the fin array for a very efficient cooling design.
Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB Vapor-X Review
Let's face it; not everyone can afford the latest and greatest parts at the top of the performance chain. That doesn't mean, however, that you have to sacrifice a lot to get great performance at a lower price. Thankfully, AMD saw this need and developed the HD 7950; a slightly cut-down version of the flagship HD 7970. It still boasts 3 GB of GDDR5 texture memory, the same 384-bit memory interface, and the same feature set in terms of connectivity and software. Instead of the fully enabled Tahiti XT core, you get the slightly less capable Tahiti Pro core along with slower memory clocks. The HD 7950 has been a favorite for a long time because of its great price/performance ratio...but what about today? While the reference cards straight from AMD's design have no obvious flaws, many companies have taken the design one step further. Today, I'll be taking a look at the Sapphire HD 7950 3GB Vapor-X Edition video card. Deviating entirely from the reference board from AMD, Sapphire has outfitted this card with the same great cooler you saw recently on the OCC review of the Sapphire HD 7970 Vapor-X GHz Edition card.
