A 120GB solid-state drive (SSD) with up to 500 MB/s read speeds, the OCZ Solid 3 ($229.99 list) comes in a 2.5-inch form factor and offers 450MB/s read speeds among other features. This OCZ SSD comes with a 6Gbps SATA connection, offers low power consumption and more. The OCZ Solid 3 comes in a simple, solid black casing with its connections all bundled to the right of its logo and underneath. The drive measures just 3.9 inches deep, 2.7 inches wide and less than a third of an inch high, while it weighs just 77 grams. This SSD has no moving parts, which helps it reach a shock resistance of 1,500G. The lack of moving parts also helps the Solid 3 consume a mere 2.7W of power while operating, and 1W while in standby. While this SSD is normally operated through a 6Gbps SATA connection, it also supports standard 3Gbps connections. In addition to read and write speeds clearing 450 MB/s, the Solid 3 sports a seek time of just .1 milliseconds. The drive can also handle 20,000 IOPS, or input/output operations per second. The Solid 3 also supports TRIM, which means it allows the operating system to tell it when blocks of data are no longer in use and free for new information.
