Although NZXT aren’t one of the biggest case vendors when compared to the likes of Antec and Cooler Master, they do have a large range of enclosures and have recently been busy revamping their product line with affordable, well designed cases. Their cases are mainly aimed at gamers and are popular due to being innovative and affordable. One of these is the NZXT Beta, which is a mid-tower case, manufactured from steel and has a few handy features such as a screw-less design and a black internal finish. Let’s find out if the Beta is the ideal budget gaming case… “NZXT, a company built upon gamer’s dreams, hopes to create products that put consumers first. With the objective of designing unique products catered for hardware enthusiasts and gamers, NZXT has grown into a globally renowned brand recognized for dedication towards creating the next great gaming product. NZXT has won numerous awards from media and publications from across the globe with a product line spanning from gaming chassis, power, and gaming input devices.
I know what you’re thinking; Déjà vu on the case review? Nope this is not the NZXT Beta being reposted; this is the supposedly classier brother the NZXT Beta EVO. While still a budget case my biggest question is… Is the EVO worth the extra money? Follow me as I look at the newest revision of NZXT Beta promising to offer increased cable management and a revised interior layout. Nothing flashy or extravagant about the box, definitely budget packaging. Brown Box, plastic bag Styrofoam same as was used when packaging the original BETA. First off, I’m very excited about the choice to move the power supply mount point to the bottom. This is a personal preference, but I’m glad to see it in a budget case. I had some initial concerns over the amount of fan grids (two on the top, two on the side panel) they have provided in the case may prove to be a serious weakness for dust and pet hair. NZXT’s tool less kit was very easy to set up, one small note and I learned this the hard way, when using the revised forward facing HD mount it is important to make sure your SATA and power cables will accommodate the decreased space between the wall of the case and the edge of your drive I found this out the hard way accidently snapping the inner portion of the SATA cable off in my drive when installing this, I later revised this with a right angle SATA cable thankfully I was able to save the drive and I learned my lesson in concerns to manufactures providing enough clearance for any type of cable.
