The GeForce GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores is in fact, in spite of its name, a slightly cut down version of the GeForce GTX 570. The graphics chip, the quantity of memory and the running clocks are all identical on both models and only the number of processing units changes. The 560 Ti 448 Cores is, then, a good way for Nvidia to get rid of some stock before the arrival of the new GeForce generation. For this new model, there isn’t really an Nvidia reference model. Each manufacturer (Asus, MSI, Gigabyte and so on) uses a separate cooling system and we can’t therefore make any pronouncements on how loud each card is. As the card is a slightly cut down GTX 570 however (fewer GPU cores), it's naturally exactly the same size (26.5 cm long). Two PCI-E connectors, one 8-pin and one 6-pin, supply the electricity. With fewer processing units to power, energy consumption is also naturally slightly lower. At idle, we dropped below the 100 Watt barrier on our test configuration and in intense 3D activity, we recorded it at 397 Watts, which is 24 less than on the GTX 570. Generally speaking these results are comparable to those for the AMD Radeon HD 6970.

Just in time for the holiday season, Nvidia’s rolling out a new promotional GPU in select markets (read: US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Russia and the Nordic countries). The GeForce GTX 560 Ti With 448 Cores – and yes, that’s its actual name – is built around a toned-down version of the same GF110 GPU that powers the higher-end GTX 570 and GTX 580, rather than the GF114 GPU that the trad...

OverviewAsus is the first company to get this limited edition GTX 560 Ti 448 Core graphics card onto our testbench. Now the dreaded limited edition tag has been handed to graphics cards many times over the years and generally it doesn't make for good things. Most of the time, in the GPU world, it means a graphics card being thrown out to see how many of the general public will take the bait and pic...

The past year has been exceptionally quiet in the world of enthusiast-class graphics cards, largely because of a decision by the leading GPU chip foundry, TSMC, to cancel its 32-nanometer fabrication process—and because of TSMC's further struggles to bring the replacement 28-nm process up to speed. We haven't had a truly new entry since the introduction of the GeForce GTX 560 back in M...
