MSI N560GTX Twin Frozr II OC
Today NVIDIA released the GeForce GTX 560, situated performance and price wise between the GTX 460 and GTX 560 Ti. The new, non-Ti version of the GTX 560 sports 336 CUDA cores, 56 texture units and a 256-bit memory interface. MSI has taken the OEM design and applied their custom configuration to the GTX 560, resulting in the card we are looking at today, the N560GTX Twin Frozr II/OC. Follow along as we pit the new GTX 560 against not only NVIDIA cards, but rival AMD cards as well. The GTX 560 is based on the same GPU used in the GTX 560 Ti, the GF114. The GTX 560 is designed to give gamers an affordable videocard capable of playing DX11 titles in HD (1920x1080) resolutions. Speaking of affordable pricing, the MSI N560GTX Twin Frozr II/OC is priced at a very affordable MSRP of $209.99. MSI implements a ton of great features into their graphics cards, and the GTX 560 Twin Frozr II is no different. The capacitors and chokes used meet the military class standard to ensure high efficiency, and greater stability at not only stock speeds but when overclocked as well.

With the market saturated with already fine-tuned NVIDIA 460's, buyers need a good reason to upgrade to the entry level 500 series. The MSI GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II / OC provides these reasons and is more than just a powerful name. One of the best cooling systems seen to date provide a solid solution in almost complete silence. Additionally, the GPU core and memory speeds come pre-overclocked from MSI right out of the box. The entry level of the MSI GTX 560 Ti is priced at $260, which is fairly value-efficient considering the stock NVIDIA 560 Ti is ten dollars less. From the line-up on the chart below, this Twin Frozr II is the first model on the chart. MSI set some pretty high standards when producing the Twin Frozr II Line. Firstly, the thermal design includes dual 80mm PWM fans and a nickel-plated copper base for better heat dissipation. The SuperPipe technology entails dual 8mm copper pipes routed through a complete radiator that covers the whole card (including memory and power modules), chilling up to 20 degrees Celsius cooler than reference design. Second generation military class components have been utilized throughout the board including: Super Ferrite Chokes (SFC) that withstand higher current for better overclocking ability and Hi-C Capacitors for the GPU, providing precise voltages.

The GTX 460 was once a card held in very high regard for those who needed the most bang for their buck. Even so, it's time the GTX 460 meets its successor, the GTX 560-Ti. At a price of around $259 the GTX 560 should be able to find its way into the hands of many users. Hopefully, it will give these users the perfect amount of performance for its price point. As with all video cards, there will be more than one flavor of the GTX 560. I'll be looking at MSI's offering, the N560GTX-Ti Twin FROZR II. This card is a slightly overclocked version of the GTX 570, and features a beefy dual fan cooler. How will the MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin FROZR II stack up to other GTX 560 releases? Let's find out. Next up is the MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin FROZR II. This bad boy comes in a bluish box with a picture of the card. MSI made it look as though the card was a gun shooting a bullet out of the chamber. The front of the box tells us that the card runs 20 C cooler, uses military class components, and comes with a free copy of 3DMARK 11. Flipping the box over once again shows the picture of the N560GTX-Ti looking like a gun. We are also able to see the card's features and the minimum system requirements. Opening up the initial packaging reveals a second box that you will need to slide out.
