Product Survey: External Hard Drives

One thing that hasn't changed is the price, with LG remaining very aggressive with a 500 GB hard drive available for under £60. As you can see in the photos above, the XD5 comes in four different colours: all white, black and silver, black and red and blue and white. All of the versions come in 320 GB and 500 GB. When writing data, the XD5 reached an average of 24.1 MB/s compared to the XD2's 23.4 MB/s. For reading data, things are a little better with an average speed of 32.5 MB/s. That means copying 10 GB of files to this drive will take 6 minutes 55 seconds, and reading them to another device around 5 minutes.
