Kingston HyperX LoVo KHX1866C9D3LK2

When this reviewer heard Kingston would be introducing low voltage, HyperX RAM it sounded like trouble because low voltage and high performance don't really mix. After putting the HyperX LoVo KHX1866C9D3LK2/4GX memory kit to the test however the Windows team was happy to eat its words. Kingston offers a number of LoVo HyperX kits at present though ours is a 4GB, dual-channel DDR3 kit designed to operate at 1866MHz. It is supposed to run at this speed with memory timings of 9-9-9-27, whilst requiring only 1.35volts. Fitting the memory kit to our Gigabyte P55A-UD7 motherboard and selecting ‘XMP Profile 1', the memory ran at the aforementioned settings. To test for stability we ran several looping benchmarks for a day only to find that the system was rock solid. Brilliant. The second XMP Profile is also quite impressive because it runs the sticks at 1600MHz at timings of 9-9-9-27 at an even lower voltage of 1.25volts. Running our suite of benchmarks, the sticks proved solid once again. Dabbling in overclocking the LoVo blew us away again. We were able to push the kit to 2035MHz whilst maintaining a voltage of 1.35volts, with the same timings.
