HP Pavilion p6716f-b

Computer prices never stop dropping, and sooner or later good deals happen automatically at every price range. The HP Pavilion p6716f-b is true of this statement, assuming all you need is a straightforward mainstream system. Available at Staples for $599.98 (list), it bundles together a balanced, low-cost desktop with a widescreen monitor - everything you need to get started. This latest model has a large hard drive and lots of RAM for a significant amount of flexibility; but because it's ultimately a budget desktop, you'll want to keep your expectations in check. But if your needs are modest, the p6716f-b will likely serve them. The p6716f-b continues the Pavilion family's design scheme with a low-key, but has an attractive all-black case jazzed up a little by a glossy front panel surrounded with silver trip, and a power button that glows white when the computer is turned on. At the top of the front panel, you'll find a 15-in-1 card reader; just below that are two 5.25-inch drive bays covered with hinged doors - the top bay containing a LightScribe-capable DVD burner and the bottom one empty. Below that, concealed behind a drop-down panel, are two USB 2.0 ports and headphone and microphone jacks.
