HP Pavilion Elite HPE-447c-b

Available from Costco, the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-447c-b ($1,349.99 list) desktop will appeal to anyone seeking a complete desktop system that has everything they'll need to get up and running immediately. With this bundle you get a multi-core processor and a discrete, albeit low-end, graphics solution, as well as a huge 27-inch monitor and Blu-ray drive. It also comes with a two-year warranty. Unfortunately, the system is hampered by sluggish performance. The HPE-447c-b uses the same chassis as its more powerful sibling, the HPE-367c-b ($1,499.99 list, ). The mid-tower case features a piano-black front panel with an illuminated HP logo in the center and a door on the bottom left that swings open to reveal a single USB port and two audio jacks. Up top is a 15-in-1 media card reader, two additional USB ports, and a status indicator for the included Wi-Fi networking card. Below is a Blu-ray/DVD burner that supports HP's LightScribe labeling technology. A shallow tray built into the top of the case is ideal for holding external drives and other small peripherals. You will need a screwdriver to remove the side panel and most of the internal components.
