1.12 min.

HPs new HP Mini 110 is a sleek, lightweight companion PC designed for Internet-centric consumers to stay connected to what is important to them, while at home or on-the-go. Offered in a variety of configurations and designs, the Mini 110 is small enough to slip into most purses, backpacks or briefcases and provides consumers with a choice of Pink Chic, Black Swirl or White Swirl HP Imprint finishes. The Mini 110 is as stylish as it is mobile, starting at 2.33 pounds and measuring just over 1-inch thick. With a 10.1-inch diagonal standard or optional high-definition LED widescreen display, a keyboard that is 92 percent the size of a standard notebook PC keyboard, and a built-in webcam and microphone, the new HP Minis are designed for consumers and business professionals who surf the web, check email, listen to music and need access to friends, family, co-workers or information.

Upgrading the HP Mini 1000 RAM from 1GB to 2GB Is A Snap

2.50 min.

In this video, I upgrade my HP Mini 1000 and my wife's HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam edition to 2GB of RAM. Both of these units come standard with 1GB of RAM with no upgrade option from HP. As many of you told me once I purchased it, these netbooks allow for a 2GB upgrade. So I went to newegg (bit.ly and bought two of these 2GB memory sticks for $25 each. (Free shipping) The process is so painless, it's almost laughable. You simple need an ink pen and fingers. First you pop open the RAM slot on the bottom using the pen, and then remove the memory chip by releasing the latches on the side (it pops out). Take the old memory chip, and put the new memory chip in slowly and push it down until the latches lock. Put the RAM slot cover back on and you're set! RAM upgrades can be intimidating at first, but once you done a few, they're actually fun :) Enjoy ------ The sound loop used is "91 BPM PROUD" from Soundsnap. bit.ly

Inside of an HP Mini 110

SEE MORE FOR UPDATES!!! Stripped down my HP 110 Mi. From what I understand this is the exact same as the 110 XP, physically. I made this because I found it difficult to find internal photos of this unit before I bought it. Not the worlds greatest video, but better than nothing. Update Nov8, 2010: If you need help getting the keyboard off, go here: www.youtube.com Update: So, turns out that that card did NOT work with the system. The card that came from Ebay came with Toshiba drivers. The HP drivers installed, but then their video software did NOT install b/c it did not properly detect the decoder card. Toshiba's driver would also install, but their video playback software would not install b/c the laptop was not a Toshiba! Haha, total cluster. I got the vanilla version of the Arcsoft Media Theater and it would *not* render through the decoder card, so it can be assumed the versions HP and Toshiba are using are modified to work with this card. I also tried recent versions of VLC, Zoom, Windows Meida Player (on Windows 7 even!) and Power DVD but nothing would use the card for HD rendering. I returned this netbook and HD card and ordered another 110 with the card built in from HP as they WOULD NOT sell me a decoder card separately. Hopefully with *their* card and *their* netbook their software will install. Time will tell! Update 2: OK! I sent back the mi and ordered an XP with the card installed from the factory and it worked! But then I wiped the OS to get a clean load and ...

Compaq Mini 110 Netbook RAM Upgrade

7.55 min.

Spend $50 to upgrade to 2Gb of RAM in your HP / Compaq Mini netbook - It's easy and you'll be happy you did. The RAM you need is a 200 pin 2Gb DDR2 800 / PC2 6400 SO-DIMM stick. You should also be able to use a 200 pin 2Gb DDR2 667 / PC2 5300 SO-DIMM stick. Correction: In the video I state this as an HP Mini when it's actually a Compaq Mini - at the time I was under the assumption they were the same unit since HP owns Compaq and I got it from an HP website... oops.

HP 110 Netbook 2gb RAM Upgrade

Simple install of G.Skill 2gb memory module in my new HP 110-1025dx netbook. 200-PIN DDR2 533Mhz Only a screwdriver is required along with a little bit of thumbnails. HP's site shows a claimed "maximum memory" capacity of 1gb. Not sure why they say this when it runs a 2gb module just like a normal laptop can. Bought from NewEgg: Item number N82E16820231163 (as of 8/19/2009 still an active item)

HP Compaq Mini 110c 1100DX netbook unboxing

6.22 min.

Compaq Mini 110c 1100DX unboxing Specs: Intel Atom N270 Processor (1.60 GHz) 1024MB DDR2 SDRAM (1 Dimm) Windows XP Home Edition Webcam 10.1" WSVGA Anti-Glare Widescreen Display Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 with shared graphics memory 802.11b/g WLAM 5-in-1 Digital Media Reader 3-cell Lithium-Ion battery To make the netbook run faster, there are several things you can do: 1. Run windows update and install all new security updates. Do this several times until there are no more updates left. 2. Uninstall Norton Internet Security and install "Microsoft Security Essentials" antivirus: It runs faster and doesn't slow down the pc as much. 3. Install "Google Chrome" web browser. It's a new, really fast internet web browser. 4. Run "disk defragmenter" to defrag your hard drive (ONLY if you have the 160GB standard hard drive. The smaller SSD solid state drives need no defragmenting). 5. Upgrade the 1GB ram chip to a 2GB chip if you are a heavy PC user. This will make the netbook more responsive when lots of programs are open like several browser tabs, photo editing, or video editing. If you have any other suggestions or tips, please leave a comment below.
