HP Envy 6-1001tu sleekbook

Globally, the HP Envy 6-sleekbook series is powered by AMD's new Trinity mobile processor – A6 4455M clocking at 2.1GHz. In this part of the world, the second-generation Intel Core i3 processors power the same ultrabook series. Considering the attractive price, this could very well be the \"first” ultrabook for a lot of consumers. The best thing about the Envy 6 is that despite its considerably lower price tag, it still carries the exact same build quality and materials used as the Envy 4. Do keep in mind that the Envy 4 costs around Rs 55000, and for a Rs 41000 machine to have the exact same premium-ness is a huge bonus. There is a generous amount of aluminum used, something very rare for laptops in this category. The closest rival to this, the Acer Aspire V5 that is technically an ultrabook, had a completely plastic build. The lid has a very subtle brushed metal finish, with the silver HP logo on one side. The same finish carries forward to the areas around the keyboard. While this is completely matte and not glossy at all (there really is a God!), this finish has a very annoying habit of accumulating smudges!

HP Envy 6 review

When we think of Ultrabooks, we tend to think of something like the Asus Zenbook UX32A, the Acer Aspire S5 or, of course, the Apple MacBook Air - all with small screen sizes, super-thin chassis and speedy SSD performance. The thing is, that's not what they have to be, and so we get the HP Envy 6, a 15.6-inch, 2kg big slab of Ultrabook. Of course, 2kg is actually pretty light for a 15-inch laptop, and the HP Envy 6 is pretty thin, too.Get moreThe latest computing news and features from TechRadarPhysically, you'd probably say it has more in common with the MacBook Pro with Retina display than the MacBook Air, but coming in at a price of 680 in the UK or $899.99 in the US, it's obvious that we're talking about Ultrabook innards.Looks-wise, the HP Envy 6 has a distinctly Envy appearance, with a serious black finish on top and a kind of wine red underneath. It's a handsome machine, though it would look even nicer without the Beats logo (sported because it packs in Beats-branded speakers, complete with subwoofer), light-up power button and various Intel/Windows/HP stickers (though these are at least monochrome, so don't stand out too badly).

HP Envy 6 Ultrabook review

HP has been excitedly showing off a host of new laptops and ultrabooks of late, including the Spectre XT and the Sleekbook. This time it's the turn of the Envy 6 ultrabook -- a slim and sleek 15-inch machine that packs the latest Intel Ivy Bridge processor. Its little brother -- the 14-inch Envy 4 -- failed to impress when I reviewed it in July. But with more powerful components on board and costing only an extra £50, the 15.6-inch Envy 6 might stand a better chance of winning favour. It's on sale now from HP's online store for £700. Quickly glancing at the Envy 6, you'd be forgiven for mistaking it for HP's Envy 4 -- that's because from the outside, they're virtually identical. The only difference is the Envy 6 is a little bigger. The machine has a width of 374mm and a depth of 253mm, so although it's called an ultrabook, it's not as bag-friendly as the 11 and 13-inch ultrabooks on the market. At 15.6 inches, it's not as compact as other ultrabooks out there. Standing 20mm high, it's relatively slim though, and you should have no problems sliding it into a stylish, skinny case. It weighs just over 2kg so I doubt you'd struggle to carry it around for long.
