G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3-1600 8GB Dual Channel Memory Kit Review
We are here to yet again do a review on another DDR3 dual channel memory kit. With the standards basically being for DDR3 kits to be 1600Mhz. They are widely used on the AMD AM3 platform to Intel 1156 and 1366 setups as well. DDR3 kits range everywhere from 1066Mhz to the 2500Mhz. When DDR3 1600MHz was coming around to be one of the most popular memory kits, the G.Skill Ripjaws where the best value for the offering. Now today a few months later we are here to put them to the test. Special thanks to G.Skill for providing us with the G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3-1600 8GB Dual Channel Memory Kit to review. The G.Skill Ripjaws come in the standard aftermarket memory easy to open plastic case. On the front of the memory it give you the basics of what it will work with telling you it will work best with Intel socket 1156 and AM3 Processors. Now looking at the back of the case it gives you info about the lifetime warranty and also contact numbers to call them or check out some other new memory. On the bottom of the case it gives you the model number and the speeds for memory.
G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3-1600 CL9 8GB Review
Not too long ago, 128 MB sticks of RAM were a big deal and a costly product at that. OK, yeah, maybe it was a few years ago now. Today, the norm is 2 GB sticks and as evidenced by today's review, 4 GB sticks are slowly gaining ground. This review is on the G.Skill Ripjaws, DDR3-1600 CL9 8 GB (4GB X 2) set of memory rated to run at 9-9-9-24 timings at 1.50v. We will run this memory through the normal suite of OCC benchmarks to see how it performs. I don't have any other 4 GB sticks available so we will see how they do against the 2 GB sticks I do have. The packaging is just your standard plastic sealed blister pack. The accompanying cardboard face just states "G.Skill Ripjaws, gaming series, designed for Intel i5 & i7 CPUs and AMD AM3 CPUs". The back states that the memory has a lifetime warranty and gives G.Skill contact information along with the product model number and specs. This memory, part number F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL, is rated to run at 1600 MHz with a timing of 9-9-9-24 @ 1.50v, so, not bad for today's DDR3 memory offerings.
