G.Skill PIS Series DDR3-2400 4GB Dual Channel Memory Kit Review

All three generations of high performance DDR memory (DDR, DDR2, DDR3) have their most popular speed…the speed that is a good combination of speed, stability, and compatibility with motherboards. With DDR memory it was DDR-400, with DDR2 it was DDR2-800, and with DDR3 it seems that DDR3-1600 is the norm. Of course, the memory manufacturers build memory much higher than that, to please those enthusiasts that have a real need for speed, or require a lot of headroom for CPU overclocking. The motherboard manufacturers also accommodate these high speed RAM junkies, a few, such as ASRock, currently build boards with memory speed capabilities higher than the memory manufacturers have yet released. Up to this point the fastest memory I have owned was DDR3-2000. The guys at G.Skill contacted me recently to ask if I was interested in memory even faster than that…of course I was! G.Skill is one of those companies that I knew was out there but I had never really considered their memory in the past, as most I usually purchase from the “household name” companies. But G.Skill is not a newcomer to the memory industry, having been in business building memory since 1989.
