Eye-Fi Pro X2

Like all Eye-Fi cards, the company's latest, the Pro X2 ($149.99 direct), works with any digital camera that supports SDHC cards to let you wirelessly upload your photos and videos to your PC and popular sharing sites. Even better, this Class 6 memory card is faster than Eye-Fi's previous models, offering speedy 6Mbps read and write speeds. The Pro X2 also adds 802.11n support, and features an Endless Memory Mode that can automatically delete media after its safely uploaded so you never run out of space on the 8GB card. The Pro X2 adds RAW file support and even uses its integrated Wi-Fi to provide GPS-like geotagging services, so your photos are instantly tagged with location information. In order to offer compatibility with any digital camera, you configure your Eye-Fi card on a computer. Slide the card into your PC's SD card slot (or use the included USB card reader) to access the pre-loaded software, which lets you designate delivery-folder locations and the Wi-Fi networks you want to use (the card can store credentials for up to 32 networks, and is configured to automatically connect to any AT&T Wi-Fi hotspot).

Eye-Fi Pro X2 Review

Eye-Fi have managed to do - if not the impossible - then then unlikely: make camera storage fun. The new Eye-Fi Pro X2 is an 8GB SDHC memory card that promises to wirelessly transfer your photos and video to your home or work computer without demanding you mess with cables and card readers. It'll also upload shots automatically to Facebook, Flickr and other online galleries, together with geotagging them, and it'll do it faster too thanks to WiFi 802.11n and a new chipset. The Eye-Fi concept is simple: instead of just fitting flash memory into an SDHC card, squeeze a WiFi radio in there too, and allow the card to connect to wireless networks and instantly offload whatever photos and video you shoot. The first-gen models had a relatively small quantity of storage and WiFi b/g support; this third-gen Eye-Fi Pro X2 packs 8GB and 2.4GHz WiFi b/g/n for faster transfers. The X2 line is also the first from the company to use their new chipset, which they reckon also improves performance especially with RAW images. The Pro X2 is a class 6 card, and there are various geotagging, ad-hoc, hotspot and other options too.
