Facebook - www.facebook.com/mitch625 Twitter - www.twitter.com/DarrylTv Dell's Vostro range is aimed at Small and Medium sized businesses, yet due to vague identity its brand was never clear for whom it was aimed for. However with its new design and Intel's Core i5 processers it becomes apparent who this laptop is aimed at. When comparing this model to its predecessors it is apparent that the design has had a huge overhaul. Although still the vast majority of the chassis are matte black plastic which brings us back to the 20th century, Dell has now added aluminum backing which does indeed draw the attention of the eye, as well as adding some much needed durability. As it goes for connectivity Dell has bundled in fair few of ports for a low budget computer. Starting with an Express Card Slot, Firewire, eSata/Usb Combo, HDMI, VGA, 3x USB as well as the standard audio ports. Not so bad is it? Like most of Dells laptops I am generally happy when using the keyboard. With its chicklet styled design borrowed from the v13 and MacBook's you get a real sense of touch typing and pretty good speed. By all means though, you wont be breaking the typing speed record though. Its just one small thing that really lets the aspect of the keyboard down, when using the outer edges of the keys it is very apparent that the keyboard is flexing. Which to me just screams poor build quality. The trackpad is respectable in size and very easy to use. It does include multi-touch features, however In my ...

My quick review of the Dell Vostro V13 laptop - please find a full review on my website, www.techgearguy.com. Ranging anywhere from $450 to $650, this model of laptop offers portability not commonly found in this price range. Coupled that with its sleek industrial minimalist design, even a Mac fanboy like myself can appreciate how nice it is.

www.digitalhomethoughts.com This is my review video of the Dell Vostro V13, a shockingly thin (0.65 inches) and light (3.5 pounds) laptop from Dell. This particular model I'm looking at features an Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 CPU at 1.3 Ghz, Windows 7 Home Premium (32-bit), 2 GB of RAM, a 320 GB 7200 RPM hard drive, 802.11n WiFi, a 1.3 megapixel Web cam, a 13.3 inch LED-backlit display (1366 x 768), gigabit Ethernet, a VGA-out port, a USB port and a combo USB port. It also has a 34mm ExpressCard slot, a microphone jack, a headphone jack, and a 5 in 1 memory card reader. It has no optical drive. The V13 uses the Intel GS45 chipset, and the Intel GMA4500 GPU. Dell Vostro Cherry Red with ugly low cost WXGA WLED (White LED) matte 1280x800 screen. Video shows comparison of 3 screens : WXGA LED 1280x800 anti-glare/matte on Vostro 1520 (on the right), WXGA CCFL 1280x800 anti-glare/matte (on the middle), and WXGA+ LED 1440x900 glossy/TrueLife (on the left). No unboxing. Of course, on the video, it is hard to judge the differences between the real screens. The Philips LG LP154WX7 panel is of really bad quality (like faulty components). Some Dell Studio or Inspiron feature a glossy version of it, and the screen available on a Dell Precision with the same specs is marketed as "low cost" by Dell. Only the Dell Latitude seem to be safe from it. The Vostro 1320 and 1720 still have CCFL screens (except in North America), so this problem might not be present. Now that the Vostro 3000 series (3300, 3400, 3500 and 3700) switched to 16:9 screen (the V13 and the 1015 also), it is difficult to know whether these suffer from the same defects or not, which is also true for Latitude E6410, E5410, E5420, E5520, E6420, E6510, E6520, E5510, E6410, E5410 whose predecessors were still produced in Poland. Hopefully the high-end Z600 is spared. Do not even think about the Inspiron 14R, 15R, 17R, M301Z, M501R, N5010, N7010 and 11z, M101z, 1018 ! Hopefully the new Dell Studio XPS 14, 15 and 17 (with Calpella and Optimus) will be better ! Also the temperature behaviour of the laptop is shown : with BIOS A04 (P8600 + X4500) the fan starts when the CPU reaches ...
