Dell Latitude E6320 Review: Strong and Capable
The Dell Latitude E6320 is a 13.3-inch business notebook with Dell's "Tri-Metal" build and a second-generation Intel Core i7 dual-core processor. Dell states that the combination of the E6320's lightweight design, build quality, and good battery life make this a travel-friendly choice for business professionals; we'll put that to the test in this review.Build and DesignThe Dell Latitude E6320 is built with what Dell calls Tri-Metal casing (MIL-STD 810G by military standards), a support structure that's considered business-rugged. In other words, it should give you the protection you need while traveling or from mishaps that can occur at work (such as a coffee spill). It's made up of anodized aluminum in the display, a hard powder-coated base, reinforced magnesium alloy wrapped around the corners, and reinforced steel hinges. It also has a spill-resistant keyboard, protective LCD seal known as a "360-degree bumper" overlay for added screen protection. Dell states that the notebook protects against extreme high and low temperatures, vibrations, dust, and high altitudes. At the time of this writing, Dell also includes a 3-year limited on-site service at no extra cost.

The Dell Latitude E6320 isn't the prettiest ultraportable laptop, but it definitely gets the job done. It's a solid performer, and it has a lot of little features that business professionals will definitely appreciate. Spill-proof keyboard? Check. Business-rugged design? Check. Fast-charging battery? Docking station connector? Bright LED screen? Check, check, check. Our review model, priced at $1519 (as of October 3, 2011), came packed with a second-generation Intel Core i7-2620M processor as well as 4GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive spinning at 7200 rpm (average, for its category). It also featured a built-in webcam and microphone, Bluetooth connectivity, and the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Professional. In WorldBench 6 benchmark tests, the Latitude E6320 earned an excellent score of 125. That mark is high for the ultraportable laptop category (though at least one other ultraportable, the very expensive Sony VAIO SB Series, achieved a score of 144), and understandable considering the Latitude's Core i7 processor. The Latitude E6320 didn't fare quite as well in our graphics tests--also understandable, considering that it has no discrete graphics card.

Combining style, power, and durability, the Dell Latitude E6320 is a 13-inch business notebook designed to impress. A solid metal chassis, Intel Core i7 processor, excellent keyboard, and six hours of battery life mean you'll make it through the longest of PowerPoint presentations, too. The E6320 starts at $929, but our high-powered configuration will cost you a cool $1,529. How much bang do you get for your buck?The Dell Latitude E6320 is both stylish and rugged, thanks to its Tri-Metal frame. The lid is comprised of a durable slate gray brushed anodized aluminum surrounded by a gray magnesium alloy, and steel hinges connect it to the base. Unlike the rest of the chassis, the base is made of plastic, but is powder-coated to better protect against nicks and scratches.Inside, the E6320 exudes understated style with a black matte soft-touch rubberized material. The black matte keyboard deck is surrounded by the same slate-gray aluminum as the lid. An orange border encasing the keyboard deck adds a nice pop of color. The bezel takes design cues from the keyboard with a black matte finish.Measuring 13.2 x 8.8 x 1.0-1.2 inches and weighing 4.2 pounds, the E6320 fit easily into our shoulder bag, and we were able to carry it for long periods of time without any discomfort.
